No Hope For Bope by Studio Vykanic
Backstory:
Bope did a bad, therefore Bope is now in the instantaneously combustible dark matter beam pit. It's not looking good for Bope. Unless a little divine intervention manages to get him to the top!
Have him touch the green beam to spare him - at least until he is thrown back in.
Controls:
A/D - Move
Space - Jump
R - Restart/Start
Left Click/Drag - Move Blocks
Hints:
Use the environment to help you steady the blocks. Catapulting does work as well!
Extra Hint - It's not easy! Possibly too hard oops.
Post Jam Updates:
I posted a minor graphics update (now post jam) that has replaced the old one.

Music was amazing. Graphic could make some improvements - it was lacking some particles (especially lava).
Agreed I was totally planning on doing way more with the graphics but just wasn't able to fully commit my weekend time to ludum dare :(, next time for sure!
I finally did it!
It took me lots of different attempts and strategies, and at one point I almost gave up...but the long block precision placement is definitely the meta ;)
Dang, can't tell you how much fun I had with this! The concept for this game is awesome. I think it could use some adjustments:
- Green and white blocks are kinda meh, I didn't really use them for any strategies
- Maybe some variance in the design of the pit (like the hole in the middle instead of the sides, only one side has a pit, etc.
- Some kind of powerup would be useful maybe. Its a really hard game! But very rewarding to beat
- I really like the little robot guy, and i see you said above you didn't have much time, but other stuff needs some more amp in the graphics department
Dude I seriously loved this game. Played for like 30 min until I won lol. Nice work!
@cogcomp Thanks for the feedback. I would certainly like to add more levels / level variation in the future, good suggestion.
It all works well together. The graphics are good. The way the physics respond seems to fit. The sounds enhanced the game. I like that all the other bopes seem to be watching in judgement.
Great job making a game in 48 hours!
Simplistic and yet very awesome graphic style!
Very fitting music to the "you could die instantly, and probably will soon" mood.
Overall a great game that I will also check on again later after the voting period when you bring out a new version
Good job
I didn't manage to save Bope, unfortunately. I'd say the game is too difficult for me, most of the time I end up frantically throwing blocks vaguely in the direction of the pit hoping some of them stick in the right places. ;) I guess making the blocks stick to the cursor until they are released over the pit would help solve that issue, though I'm not sure if that wouldn't take away some of the physics-based wild fun the game has right now.
