AquaGone by firescape games

[raw]
made by firescape games for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

This is my jam game AquaGone. For this game, full screen is recommended.

In this game, water is slowly rising around the island and you have to keep it from overtaking the entire island. If you hit the rising water, the game is over.

The goal of this game is to find sticks and coins around the map and pick them up, and sell sticks in the pond at the top of the mountain. 1 stick sells for 1 coin, and you can buy super sponges which will automatically lower the water level surrounding the island for 2 coins per super sponge (lowering the water level by 10). The water slowly gets faster as you play.

I made all the music and sound effects by myself, I did not have time to make customize the art.

Sometimes the audio doesn't start when you play, if it doesn't play audio try refreshing the page and full screen after reading instructions and closing them, as that should make the audio play if it wasn't playing before.

Controls:

WASD or Arrow Keys to move

Shift to run

Space to jump

P or F to pick up sticks and coins

I've seen a lot of sea-level rise games, and this one doesn't go through the motions. It's fun to operate

The graphics were nice, specially on the water. Only feedback i have is that it would have been nice to auto pickup instead of pressing P.

Well done!

The water shadder was really nice. I couldn't find how to turn my sticks and coins in for sponges... Would have been nice if a few sticks made a trail to the place to turn them in so the play knew where it was. I did enjoy walking around the island looking at it!

I am clearly bias due to your use of tigers. It's a very creative concept and different than the other games I have played. I very much enjoyed streaming this! I didn't notice the pond right away which took me a play through to discover.

Such a simple game but you added some real creativity with the hidden items and tigers etc. Well done!

This is a great take on the theme! I'm a huge fan of the level design and the concept is great. Wonderful execution!

Nothing prepared me for two rich tigers hanging underwater.
I loved the art! Would make the pickup automatic, but not much else comes to mind. Was pretty nice!

Interesting take on the game, always fun to see what people have time to do in 3D in such a short time!

Good job!

Interesting take on the theme -- the water collider was a bit aggressive -- maybe make it so the player has to be fully in the water to lose.

Really weird and creative, I like it! While not the most engaging, it's interesting to explore

Interesting take on the topic. Would have like the island to be a bit easier to navigate. Good job.

Try dashing through, then time for hidden path.

"For educational purpose only" lol. :)

The shop hidden in the pond reminder me some star wars game in the style of Jedy academy where there were hidden places. It was a good feeling. :)

Nice entry, thanks.

That was definitely an experience unlike any other

The magical tiger twins of the pond who trade sticks for coins and coins for super sponges were a wonderful addition to this masterpiece. The soundtrack was also surprisingly catchy.

Neat concept, it would be kinda cool to see an exaggerated version of the gameplay loop, where the sticks are scattered everywhere in abundance, collecting hundreds to turn in for just a sponge
