Brace Yourself by PaperMartin

[raw]
made by PaperMartin for Ludum Dare 50 (COMPO)

Your plane is crashing . Your goal is to get as far as possible before that happens.

You can try to raise the nose of the plane to get further, but not forever, so you gotta save it for when you know it'll be efficient : Inside air currents, in which you will go back up much faster than outside of them

You also have to avoid mountains, which will make your plane instantly crash.

Made for Ludum Dare 50, the theme was "Delaying the inevitable"

Controls :

W / DPad up / Left Joystick up to raise the plane

A and D / DPad left and right / Left Joystick left and right to move left or right

Enter or A to restart after a game over

I've never used unity, but the graphics of this game made me want to use it! Were they pre-rendered or generated on the fly?

I thought it was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the dramatic pause before the plane exploded.

Congratulations!

@very-bad-bunny-studio it's basically all rudimentary unanimated 3D models with a very basic shader + unity's basic particle system. The models are being rendered in real time, I just deliberately reduced the resolution of the render.

thanks for playing !

Yeah agreed, nice style, Gives a pretty cool retro voxel feel to it.

Finally got to 178, it feels like there's so little extra to gain. Does the "point nose up power" regain somehow?

@jepjoh2 nope, you get about 10 second of it total per run, no way to gain any back
