Ava-launch! by LandoSystems
:mountainsnow: :snowboarder: _Check It, Bro! :snowboarder::mountain_snow:

:snowflake: Are you ready to spend Spring Break on the slopes, building sick ramps to save your mountainside ski town from a daily (and sadly unavoidable) avalanche? :snowflake:
This physics-based 3D-hybrid destruction simulator lets you divert the flow of snow to preserve and/or destroy trees, buildings, and even bystanders! :house: :helicopter:
Try to hold it off for as long as you can, but in the end, the fate of this town can't be stopped - you're only delaying the inevitable!

Fun game!
I had a hard time on my first day figuring out where the avalanche was going to be coming from, and accidentally built all my ramps on the wrong side of the houses. After that disastrous first day, I think I understood the mechanics, except for how gathering building material worked. I always hit a point where I couldn't build any more, but I didn't see anything on screen telling me why
Overall though, this is a solid entry! The soundtrack and the in-character text scroll explaining the controls did a lot to endear the game to me right off the bat :) It made a really good first impression!
I figured that clearing the snow with the plow meant that the avalanche would lose some size / momentum as it passed over the cleared spot, but I couldn't tell why I'd want to pick one row of snow over another - maybe I benefit most from clearing the thickest row?
Sending the copter to pick up people was nice thematically too, but it was kinda another case of me not seeing much of a decision each round other than hoping that a couple of people randomly clustered together for the helicopter I sent.
Definitely captured that feeling of inevitability, the I enjoyed the music and the graphics all fit together really nicely. The way the opening title crawl gave basic tutorial info made me smile too. All in all, nice work!
was a bit confusing at first, but after seeing the first avalanche things were more clear
Congrats to the whole team, great game!
I was trying to capture the fox, so cool

love the 2d characters running around the 3d environment
the intro text is also so much fun, awesome entry!
Graphics are good and sound is very good. Fullscreen would be nice, but all in all more than solid!
something something dust something wind dude
After a few sessions it started to make sense and I understood that destruction and failure is inevitable (duh). It kind of reminded me of when I first played dark souls and got really frustrated until I realized that dying was a core part of the game and not "failure". On my last play through I felt like I was being more strategic in my ramp placement, willingly sacrificing some houses.
I think for the game to make more sense and be overall more enjoyable it has to start off really slow with the avalanche. Give the player breathing room to experiment with ramp placement. Give the player the option of preventing damage completely if the ramps are placed properly for the first few rounds. This will let the player better learn the mechanics and strategy and help them accept the inevitable failure later on.
The opening tutorial is funny, but not very useful for teaching how to play the game. The game can be very engaging if you know what you're doing, but I think most people who play it won't know what they're doing. There are other little things you can do to make the game easier to understand like making it more obvious how you get resources and how they translate to placeable ramps. Also the little number that shows how many of each item you have is confusing, I thought they were just the hot-keys for quickly selecting items.
The graphics music and mood are all great, and the overall presentation was very polished. Great job putting this together in time, especially while coordinating such a large team!
Well don!
as usual u guys delivered - love the vibe, dialogues etc :P
that ref w/ the skifree monster at the end is spot-on - gg I giggled :P
Id argue a button to slow down the dialogues at the start and end (like opposite of "hurry up bro") may be useful
the fact the tutorial is so well-wrapped into the intro dialogue works really well - well done there
I feel some of the ways to play are not so straightforward - also the left and right arrows in the evil tab fuck with my head i can never get them right ^^# - all in all for these it takes a few playthroughs to get the hang of it all, i believe
still very impressive technically, very fun, jolly old time
well done guys - see you in september <3 :D

Have a great day, I hope to hear from you soon - thanks for that great moment I spent testing your little nugget of a game, and see you in the chat during the stream, I hope
All that said, I love the retro style and the avalanche was incredibly satisfying to watch. I appreciate the moral about how you can be selfish and benefit from others’ destruction but eventually the same fate comes for you.
