Sundown by Rawb

You're a lawman who's been bitten and become a vampire. The sun melts your skin and blood is the only things that can heal the wounds. Survive until sundown by killing enemies with your fists or your trusty, revolver and then drain their blood. Try to survive until the night, then you will finally be safe... right?
The sun will always rise again. But you may as well delay your inevitable end.

I think there is a bug (at least in the WebGL version) - the gun automatically fires all your shots on load.
Acceleration while movement starts a bit slow for me, but everithing else is great!
At first I tried to outsmart the game by just waiting for my life to go very close to zero before eating any body (so making it as worth as possible), this boss thing is a good fix to my lame strategy haha.
I enjoyed this game, it looks very simple at first but then you can have some really fun time exploring the possibilities. The music and overall style are cool, you don't see a vampire x western mashup every day.
The artwork is fantastic, as is the music. It really creates a great mood.
The controls are simultaneously too floaty and too stiff, making the main character pretty annoying to control, that said it's definitely playable.
Also, wall jumping doesn't seem to be useful, and actually detracts from the controls of the game, making you bounce off of surfaces that you'd rather just hoist yourself up onto.
Decent little game!
But!
Sometimes acseliration feels bad, because I have been stuck with obstacles.
Mechanic with wall climbing feel good, but we have not much vertical levels to ralize full potential.
Interesting gameplay but I would recommend using different buttons for the actions, it's a bit hard to shift between WASD and Q/E.
Overall, good work!
- air gliding in a bat form
- admiring sunset as I go; nice color transitions
I could as well be good without:
- not having to use mouse to navigate the menu when being specifically opted to use xbox controller
- constantly bumping into platforms; platform lengths could be adjusted according to jump forces

- sweet compact, readable pixel art
- nice parallax background
- the inevitable keeps coming but i can delay it with eating blood indeed
- the character feels floaty to control, but once I got the hang of the dash it was easy to move around
- I was starting to wonder if the stage is just randomly generated and goes forever but then THE GARLIC KNIGHT APPEARED
- sweet blood trail effects
- would love to see more opportunities for wall jumping
- i would like to see more cowboy vampire content
:cowboy:🧛
The only problem I had was it took me a while to get use to the movement. It felt heavy and clunky at first, but after a couple minutes of moving around, I got use to it.
What I liked:
- I think the idea fits the theme really well (our game actually had a very similar idea behind it)
- The parallax scrolling was nice
- The movement acceleration was a little jarring at first but it was nice to be able to rocket across the screen to get to your next victim
- The UI was clear and I always was aware of how much health and ammo I had
- The music fit the theme of the game and was pretty catchy
What I think could be improved on:
- I think a little more effort could have been put into environmental art. I know not everyone is an artist but I can see the effort put into the characters and the background layer with the cactus so I think giving the tiles a little love would help make the game much nicer to look at
- The controls were a little difficult to use, especially the wall jump. The run felt so fast that wall jumping completely broke my momentum
- I didn't really see a point in ever using my gun. I still used it because it was there but I could always just run up and hit something once or twice and it would take the same amount of time. And since you have to go to their body to drain them anyways, the gun doesn't seem necessary.
- The boss could have been a little tankier. I didn't get to see any of his attack because I just ran up and destroyed him before he got to do anything
Overall, I had fun playing this. Nice work!
The background, UI, and sprite work were very high quality, well done.
Also, the game as a freakn garlic knight boss battle, it's amazing
