Hello from Germany!

This is my first compo game. Also the first time doing all the assets myself. I used the chance to learn a litte blender modelling and i am happy with the result. This game isn't the most complex one out there but it has a chill out feel to it with a litte action at the end.

What is this about?

You are the boyfriend of a nice lady. The problem is, she is buying new plants every day and you are the one taking care of them. That is a very hard job and some dead plants are unavoidable. How long can you keep them alive?

How to play

Move plants via drag & drop into and out of the sun. If plants are in the sun too long, they burn. But they need the sun or they die.

Plant language:

sunmore.png I need more light! sunless.png Less light, please. fire.png AAh, help i'm burning.

Most fun on Android!

Thanks for playing. Emil

Crazy plant lady indeed ! Omg where do you find all this plants girl ?! That was really fun, at the end I became crazy and planned to burn it all outside but I lost before I had the chances. Awesome game, I love the feel when the pots touch each other, and the graphics are beautiful ! Well done, really good game !

this was fun to play, i know there was some kind of trick to putting a plant into the house where it would get balanced light and dark where you wouldnt have to tend to it, but i couldnt figure it out.

Lovely game! Had fun trying to figure out where to put each plant. Nice models too, it's a shame the camera angle doesn't do them justice!

Nice and relaxing! Dificulty curve is smooth, I like it! I also really liked that they are rigid bodies, so you can push one another. But I think it's not intended because the UI is turning with the plant too.
Also really liked the day night cycle, but feels too short for me. As I understand it is for the gameplay reasons so that plants won't die from freezing.
And the ambient sounds is fantastic!

My thoughts: Overall gameplay is good but get's repetative pretty fast, maybe adding features like: some plants do not like to be with each other it will add more dynamic to the game, so you not just tossing plants around, but you need to think where they should or should not be.

Thank you for your feedback.
@jcmonkey, @ani My idea was to have an optimal place for each of the plants. Unfortunately time for balancing these variables was short and i opted for the in/out approach. I also wanted to add watering but that would have been even harder to balance XD

@ani thank you. I like this perspective and modeled the plants with it in mind. Maybe will use them in another game someday so they can be seen in all their glory 😉 If you want to take a look at them, you can. They are in my repo. The Blender files too.

@crishnate Thanks, bumping one another is intended, rotation too. I parented the Ui to the plant so it rotates with it. Looks weird sometimes but it's not gamebreaking.
You are right, that the gameplay becomes repetative. My initial idea was to have a "optimal" spot for every plant and water them too. I even thought about pests that can spread to some plants and not to others, so you would need to make "fences" with plants. But that's compo...

Nice game idea! Love how it descends from a peaceful leisurely pastime to a complete madness. Lovely plant models, although the ones with many thin leaves produce a ton of aliasing & flickering, maybe you'd need to turn AA on and/or use textured transparent leaves instead. The shadows looked a bit wonky, probably increasing shadow map resolution & playing with shadow bias would fix that. I'd also suggest highlighting the plants when you mouseover them, would make fast-precision-moving-plants-around thing more satisfying and less frustrating (especially when you misclick!).

Impressive for a first compo game :) I managed to juggle 15 plants, until it got too intense for me. I see in your code that you had plans for watering as well . That would possibly have added some variation into the game. Beautiful 3d models!

Nice game. The plants look good and I liked the slow build before the plant moving insanity started. One of my plants did get stuck in the wall and I couldn't move it.

Very good job... especially for a first entry :thumbsup_tone1: :thumbsup_tone1:

Of course a little light... on content. But again .. the whole concept here kind of dictates it.
Congrats on the entry

Great use of light/shadow here, and a lot of fun to play. These are some seriously demanding plants! Very nice visuals and ambient audio.

Had fun playing the game. Liked the plant models and the sound effects. I would have liked it more if you had some pleasant background music and added burning animation for the plants. But nevertheless it's a good game.

Great game, and a nice reminder to stay single, and plant-free.
