Escape Horizon by FrozenTea

[raw]
made by FrozenTea for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

A top-down survival based game where you are a space ship trying to escape a black hole that's growing from consuming space debris. To do so you must maneuver the space debris out of the way of the black hole and back into the depths of space.

Keep this up to stay out of the way of the black hole, though eventually, the hole will consume all. How long can you last and keep the hole at bay before its size starts to get out of hand?

Hahaha, the game over is great. I enjoyed it, though it gets hectic super fast, I wasn't able to last that long. The sucking up mechanic feels just right, and the audio (music, sounds, effects) is absolutely excellent!

pretty simple and fun concept! I had fun playing the game trying to survive as long as possible. The controls were a little bit awkward but other than that it's executed pretty well for a jam game!

Pretty nice ! It gets real hard real fast, the inavitability is indeed real. The music is catchy but maybe a bit short, I heard plenty of loops in my 2 minutes of survival

the visuals and music are fitting but they didn't stand out to me.
Relatively soon, one side was blocked so I could only get to some asteroids on the other side of the black hole. Due to the perspective it was hard to know where they are and there's no progression of advantages / disadvantages. That is not engaging gameplay. I do appreciate the effort with the SFX and music.

Creative, simply and cool entry, well done! My time was 2:05.314 :) I found a visual bug, if I left click then right click fast it shows like it is still vacuuming.

Outstanding game! I'm a huge fan of the visuals on this one, and the unique controls make it pretty tough to master. Only real complaint I have with it is it's a bit too difficult to track both sides at once, and typically i end up completely ignoring one side trying to defend the other. It's a bit overwhelming.

Cool game, good base. I could see some other sized objects being added to change the gameplay up and maybe add some physics to knock way other objects farther away from you.

Nice game! I don't know if you made it yourself but I REALLY like the gravity field distortion effect- it just looks so trippy!

The gameplay was fun enough and I was able to grasp the core mechanics pretty quickly. Maybe a bit of polish around the edges and some extra content/mechanics would have helped, but overall there's not much to critique- it's a solid game! Good job.

Nice and simple concept, and it worked great! Excellent effects around the black hole as well, really added to the experience.

I would have LOVED to be able to launch rocks at other rocks and take out multiple rocks at a time, but this didn't seem to work. Would have been a cool feature to add.

Really solid entry, nice work!

Nice aesthetics. Even the UI looks good. As others have mentioned, it would have been a lot of fun if you could use rocks to knock other rocks away. Still neat game that gets the theme across well. Great job!
