I can see why this was considered experimental - very first time I've played a calligraphy game. Determining what to do was a little difficult, and I was often confused about why I failed a level. The minimalist musical notes were really rewarding to hear, consequently. I didn't notice the ink supply slowly draining at the top - I suppose that is the thematic connection? I might actually play around with this some more, but I think most people would appreciate a little more hand-holding to figure out why they are or aren't advancing.

Not really sure what's going on, but kinda cool!

Great concept! Was very hard to understand what to do, I made it to one level where there is a marker right in the top left I couldn't see what it was so didn't know what to do and lost all my ink scribbling on it :') The audio is exceptional and the whole thing is very innovative!

@mook Sorry for bad instruction and guide, maybe I try to create a sort of The Witness feel hh, but in that circumstances is hard to do that, I 've added some instructions of the targets: 1. cover the round with thick brush, 2. through the ring with fine pen, 3. though in the direction of arrow through fine pen. and try to trigger all the targets in one-holding touch.

10/10. Makes the player feel that he is a Chinese calligraphy master and Guqin player at the same time.

First play, I am frsutrated by why the total ink is an accumulating meters for all rounds rather than reset every round. Then, realize that is the way given reasons for player to be best perform on every level to increase replayability. To push this more, consider to add more agency and tools on the total ink amount through levels. Well done for 48h.

This game is so cool! I could tell that you did gain some inspiration from Guanzhong Wu, and the Chinese calligraphy effect is visually incredible! I do wanna complain about the difficulty since I was playing this game on my PC, and it is very tricky to control the cursor with my mouse to pass through my targets, which turns my intuitive goal of "drawing" into "trying" to guide my cursor path. This eventually distracted me from admiring the Chinese calligraphy aesthetic as a consequence. But overall, this is an incredible experimental game! Love it!

I love the game's graphics, audio and zen feel.
But the mechanism really refused me.
What does the fine pen mean? How can I change a thick brush to a fine pen?

@zc74560 try to accelerate touch movement, maybe try to draw some circle quickly!

I got it!
One more problem.
When I lose in one level.
I don't want to restart the total game, just give me one more chance to try that level again.

@zc74560 Sorry for that, it's a compromise of the theme, and like the other said "given reasons for player to be best perform on every level to increase replayability.", hope you can master it and through it in one run! :)

Just as the author said, this game reminds me of Blek and The Witness, while still very innovative and atmospheric! The game mechanic is interesting but not quite intuitive especially the fine pen part. The simple Gu Qin sound is very suitable for such a minimalist game. Nice work!

Dudeeeee, this was amazing!! The most beautiful compo game I've played so far. The minimalist aesthetic is gorgeous. The game mechanic is super addicting and the atmosphere is spot on. Wish there were more levels! I could probably find myself playing this for hours :D 5/5.

Also a reminder that you're required to share the source code for compo. Would love to see that!

Similarly to other comments, I didn't really get it, but the aesthetic was pretty cool!

天哪,想法真的非常牛,呈现的美术效果和情绪也到位,就是需要一些平衡性调整,现在感觉墨迹从重到轻太慢了,有时需要多次绕圈尝试才能命中,写起来没有挥毫泼墨的意境

Tricky to get the hand of the brush thickness, but once I did I absolutely loved this game. Incredibly beautiful, the control and the sound design sets the mood perfectly. Amazing work!

Good game! Decent control, but the delay may be too long and made the game quite tiring.

I'd love to see more levels coming. Adding a subtle guidance to show the beauty of 汉字 might be better.

And... When I run out of time, I go back to the very beginning of the game, is that a design or a bug? For me, it's really annoying to run though the game again.

Well done!

great game, although its experimental, a lot works pretty nice. I wish the fade between thick and thin was more smooth, but still a nice entry with a fitting vibe!

Using a trackpad mouse for this was really hard to control properly, if I was using a mouse or a pad with pen this would have been so much easier. The aesthetics were great, and the audio all went to creating a great atmosphere. The only bit I would say is the little bar at the top which went down with each failure/level could have been made into say an ink pot on ink line with the same art style as it could then have conveyed the same information whilst represent "spilt/lost ink" and just tied it all a little together and provided a little better feedback to the player as to what it was. Still an awesome game though.

I didn't understand what the bar at the top represented at first, so when it ran out I was surprised to get booted back to level one. Besides that it was great! Very fun and different.

A very chill and relaxing game, even with the inevitable end in mind. The artstyle and music are amazing. I love how strokes are represented by strumming and how that connects nicely with the motions of the player.

Really great concept, nice aesthetic & music too, but it took me a while and still failed to figure out how to adjust the thickness of the brush
