Get Served by Bentekiller

[raw]
made by Bentekiller for Ludum Dare 50 (COMPO)

CoverArt2.PNG

You need to get served at the right time, so delay your inevitable demise until your perfectly baked. That means when your baked it's time to be eaten(Die).

Controls: wasd for movement, 1-5 for going back in time, "R" for quick restart.

You can press a nr button to go back in time by a certain amount, which also decrease your heat. You glow when you're perfectly baked, at around 70 degrees.

Developer note: lacks incentive to move around the level, you just need to survive until the right time and jump back if you get to hot.

A fun little game! Very interesting premise, and I liked the graphics! Although, it was a little lacking in sound and "activity" as in there wasn't much going on

Took me a minute to notice the sparkling when you're ready to be eaten :') I think it saying eaten too soon even when I died at 140 degree it still says eaten too soon. I like the idea of trying to become the best god damn baked muffin to be eaten, If this had a bit more depth it would be awesome!

I liked the the abstract style and the movement of the cupcake. Mesmerizing  The first time round I misunderstood the game completely and just zoomed around aimlessly enjoying myself. Well done!

I only noticed the heat text in the corner after a while so I didn't understand at first. But after that it was fun! I liked the trail effect too, it was satisfying to move around

A really unique idea that perfectly fits the theme, loved it. Those smaller muffins following you are a very nice visual touch, albeit a bit distracting. I managed to finish all the levels just hiding in the map corners, so I'd say the game needed more playtesting :D Good job anyways.

Really cool game. I love the idea of waiting to be cooked. I wish there was slight more verity in the levels but a really good jam game. Good Job!

I really liked it! Art, audio, mechanics - its all great! The only thing I would tweak is level design. Level 1 was fun, but on level 2 its still easy with only 2 'sparks' aimed directly at you, but you get to over 200 degrees and you are still not ready? Its a bit too long for this difficulty, it gets boring with too much time. Maybe add some obstacles, shorter time to be done, yet more challenging levels? You could develop it in many different ways and its clearly worth it. With right level design this could get addicting really fast :) Great work! :D

Neat idea. Was simple at first but as the levels went on it got a fair bit more challenging. Good submission!

Very interesting concept, but not having any motivation to move is a huge drawback to enjoyment. Still, this feels like a fun seed for a proper game - maybe you could have randomized challenges, where you're a different dish/pastry every level with a different temperature to aim for, and the flying mouths (mouths?) actually force you to fly around, splitting your attention, and giving more utility to the cool time travel mechanic. Very nice graphics and audio!

It's a simple but fun game, I think the idea is very good but it could go deeper and work more. The UI could be improved so that the game is better understood and the gameplay is more fun. Nice job!

Not bad! I would have enjoyed some better feedback about when you are ready to be eaten (I like how you used sound cues for that, but it wasn't enough in my opinion). My biggest frustration is that I couldn't think of any good "bullet hell" pun to name this new genre. _Bakery hell_?

Took a while to understand better what I was supposed to be doing but then it got pretty nice. I think going back in time could be a single button, that would probably be enough.

Also for the incentives to move you could 1: increase heat a bit while moving or 2: increase heat when near missing a bullet and 3: powerup pickups, like extra speed, making yourself smaller, slower bullets, shield, etc
