Warming up! by notnasiul
When their land melts away, ancestral enemies will join forces to save it. Join Bear and Penguin in a frenetic race against the clock! You are the only one that can DELAY THE INEVITABLE (ha, see? That's the game jam theme!)

A fast paced arcade game for one or two players!
- Use arrow keys to walk and jump
- Grab fires with X and throw them away pressing X again
- If you are trapped in a deep hole, press Z to flatten a column of ice.
Second player: ESDF + W(grab/throw)Q(hit ice)
Should work with gamepads too, and also on mobile!!

- SFX fit the style really well
- I had to use the L-stick instead of the D-pad for movement (d-pad would have fit better for the style of the game)
- the game play is interesting and functional
Good job!
The graphics are really cute! Has a really nice retro feel with the graphics and sounds and the game being on one screen.
So cool that you also made it 2 Players!!
I like te fact that is playable on mobile and gamepad
Loved the graphics and the mechanics.
it is a really fun little experience, perfect for a jam, and seeing games made in pico-8 is interesting.
i would have liked a little song at the background, but it is a game i would really play outside a jam!!
I had plans for a background but totally FORGOT to add it. I'll probably add a new version when the voting ends.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment! <3
Everything is better in a island. :)
It was short and fun!
Having fire wisps and rainy clouds are nice balance of negative and positive feedback to the game.
SFX are good, but it could really use an 8-bit background music track to go with it.
One last piece of criticism, I barely saw my score because I was spamming the x button and that is the accept button on the score page. I'd change that to the other button.
Good job!
Oh, if you made a highscore it's stored and saved, so it's probably still there :)
the game is so polished though. I love the art it's so cute!
really good job :)

Such a charming game, I absolutely love the effects (from the fireballs and clouds) and the controls are tight! My strategy was to let a side of the arena go (so I'd only defend the right side, for example), and then jumping around and trying to catch and throw the fires before they even reach the snow.
Really good job, it was so fun to play
Thank you all new players for trying the game!
It's really creative.
Using the contrast of ice and fire an creating a unique mechanic with it that fits the theme "Delay the inevitable" perfectly.
The sound and the art style are cute and beautiful.
Another thing,
the movement feels pretty polished and nice.
Overall great game :)

My score is nothing compared to @conradoclark but I still thought I'd share. I had fun.
