Captaining the demise

We have lost all power...

The order is to evacuate the ship but enemies are closing in. Take control of the point defense gun and defend your broken ship.

Instructions

Man the point defense gun and help delay the inevitable - Defend your ship while people are manning the escape pods - Choose between evacing people or jettison cargo with UP or DOWN

Controls

  • Mouse = Aim + fire
  • a + d = Turn
  • w = Evac people
  • s = Jettison cargo

Tips

  • Taking down enemies is possible but missiles are always 1 shot 1 kill.
  • Use what armor that is left to your advantage
  • In a pinch you can use less valuable modules to soak damage

Nice game, feels properly overwhelming. I'm not sure exactly what the game over condition is, so it's always a bit of a surprise when it happens...

Woah I got wrecked in that! Haha! Was great fun though. You did a very good job here. Not sure if there's upgrades and stuff, but that would have been a cool feature for sure. Great work bud

Loved the controls, felt really smooth. I enjoyed it, felt like perhaps some gameplay elements were missing like upgrades but it was fun nonetheless.
Great work!

Less hectic that a bullet hell shooter, but more than a regular turret game. Pretty fun!

The game feels unwinnable. Without a way of dodging enemies, you are forced to rely on shooting down enemy shots. However, since your firing speed isn't anywhere near fast enough to defend yourself past a certain point, it doesn't feel like you can actually "delay" the inevitable, there is just a set end time where there isn't anything you can do.

To extend the gameplay I would have considered adding more movement and potentially upgrades, but as there is already a "win condition," the passenger and cargo mechanics would have to be reworked.

Good submission, I enjoyed my albeit short time with it.

I liked the concept about saving as many people and cargo as we can before the ship inevitably dies but I didn't feel I can do really much about it. I wasn't a fan of the burst fire mode and I wish the front shield was more visible since the engine particles didn't really help to find the front of the ship.

Despite these things it was an enjoyable experience. The controls were smooth too.

Thanks for all the feedback!
@appoxgames Yeah the cargo was supposed to be meta progression but it ran out of energy so left it out of scope

@Yokin Cool, you actually managed to get another end screen message (that was supposed to pop up as "Achivements" while playing the game but I had to cut some corners

Awesome concept, a nice distillation of Lovers in a dangerous spacetime, swinging around a solid shield and blocking as many bullets as you can. Nicely done!
