Do you like Cookie Clicker but wish a giant cat was trying to eat you the entire time?

You're just a humble ghostly train conductor, trying to make an honest after-living carrying your ghostly passengers and ghostly cat food from town to town, but a monstrous cat got whiff of your load and won't stop until he's taken all your kibble and your life!

Maybe, just maybe you can outrun him! At least you can try! Keep an eye on your weight and speed, drop what you can to lessen your load and burn what you can to speed up—but be careful, some things are irreplaceable, and if you toss too much cargo too quickly the cat will just ignore it and chase you even faster!

Tread that line carefully and keep your train running for as long as you can... but don't get your hopes up. It looks like this is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a meow.

Good thing you're already dead!

Disclaimer

A new post-jam version is available with many improvements and all new sounds: Fur Steam Ahead v1.2! Head over to itch.io!

The jam version is missing sound effects and the music was not fully implemented because Wwise is garbage.

How to Play

  • Click on objects to toss them off the train!
  • ... that's it!

Really cool looking game, I wish it was longer. :D

I think you could add some sound effects for the object throwing, but overall it's a really cute looking game. I like it!

That was such a good game! The aesthethic was really nice, eventhough it could be a bit confusing to differentiate the items in the train due to the color scheme. But overall it's really a fun, well made game!

@benk86 Thanks for the feedback, we actually recorded a lot of sound effects but due to software issues we couldn't get them in. Hopefully we can get a version with them soon.

Loved the mood, graphics and overall theme. I would have liked some more feedback on my actions. What happens when certain items are thrown for example.

I'm glad someone else also made a train-themed game for this jam!

After a few tries I understood that I shouldn't burn the whole car and maybe throwing out the conductor first is not the best idea there is. Even though that the sound effects are missing (yet), it's still a really fun a well-made game!

Really nice game, cool graphics. I wish there were a mechanism to play with the coal, like putting it in to the firebox to speed up train, but not too much that it would overheat, something like that. Would add another dynamic to the game and engage the player more. But overall very enjoyable game.

Cool art style, strong mood and interesting idea. The UI elements are really good. I feel like the game is lacking a little something to feel up the time where nothing is really happening, maybe another mechanic or discussions between passengers idk.

Nice, simple and visually polished! Enjoyed playing the game and chucking items (and the driver) off the train haha

I like the art style and the mechanic isn't something that I've seen before. It was a bit unclear what the best strategy was but I guess it would be boring if I knew exactly what to do.

My high score was 25.17km :)

Really love the art style and music. A few more hints about what you needed to do would be useful but it wasn't too hard to work out. I think just a few tweaks to the mechanics (some of the ideas suggested in other comments) could really help to make the gameplay feel more frantic in a way that matches the mood of the game.

Really fun! Often quite difficult to know the effect of removing a particular object, but maybe that's part of the fun 😉 lovely little game

Not bad! Took me a few tries to figure the gameplay out, but eventually managed to survive almost 9km. The visuals are very charming, and music fits nicely. It's a shame about the lack of other sounds, but that's not uncommon in game jams. Anyway, congrats to your team!
