The result of making an entire game based on a pun

CHANGELOG

v1.3 (07-Apr) - Fixed restart bug which caused the second game to not be finishable (i.e. infinite call), and added the time to the final screen as per requests.

v1.2 (06-APR) - Fixed restart bug which caused infinite dialling, and where music settings were reset.

v1.1 (In submission hour) - Fixed balance and bugs, added more dialogue variance, details on itch page (extensive)

v1.0 Release!

Elder Rang is a stay-on-top-of-things game where you will inevitably disappoint your grandmother by not paying attention to her... but she's just so BORING.

Try and keep your room in order (pet the cat, keep the light on, and readjust the paintings), and focus on the things that make you happy, like playing the latest video game, and minting some sweet NFTs.

See how long you can stay on the phone before she becomes suspicious!

Game is played with a mouse.

PLEASE NOTE for credits, the title theme music was CC licensed, but all SFX were by me so I left myself opted-in to the Audio category. Please keep this in mind when voting, and skip if you think that is appropriate.

You caught my attention with the title and kept it with the game! I really like the that the humor and gameplay match so well.

I couldn't resist reading this headline. The concept is very magical, and can feel the wonderful imagination of the author, continue to play!

Fantastically funny concept!
Simple but functional multi-tasking gameplay, that walks the tightrope of being engaging while not distracting enough to miss the hilarious dialogue that adds so much to the experience.
The phone racking up "missed-calls" on the title screen, along with the option to change the name of the grandmother on your phone are good examples of all the polish that adds to the game's overall vibe and humour.
The art was also a strong point, and nice job on making your own SFX as well. Great job!

Just the intro screen made me laugh way too much with intense music and more missed calls coming up xD I loved the game, indeed it is very stress inducing and funny. It is very simple concept, yet works very effectively and I assume that it works exactly how you wanted it to. Great work! Im weirdly inspired by how well this game works <3

Ironically, keeping my stress levels low kept stressing me out to not miss any of the great dialogue 😜

Loved the idea and the cheesy title.

I started the LD50 with a 50 hours rush on elden ring and find this master piece XD
I just had live the exact same situation, and I'm sure that if you would pitch the game it would start with "From a real story..."

Really nice game !!

Haha that was hilarious! really like the grandma's blablablabla "noise", the absence of play button replace with the phone call, very polished! I want to play Elden Ring now... (and phone grandma of course!)
Well done!

Ok idea, executed to perfection!

"You better not be making those magic fake ape coins" got me good.

Well done!

Absolutely hilarious! The dialogues are genius and sound effects are nice. My favorite thing has to be the end-game screen  Gave me quite a laugh. Great job!

Haha! I said to myself, I'll just pay attention. How hard can it be to click the correct answer... this game is so realistic! Guess disappointment is inevitable

just amazing. I almost went crazy trying to do everything at the same time, while trying to respond in a coherent way... Very good implementation. The mouse got me a little lost sometimes, and it's always good to pet a cat :D

Hilarious! 💜 A play on words that leads you to an entirely different idea is always great. I think you did really well on all sorts of little touches, like the anxiety-inducing vibration of the phone on the title screen and actually picking up to start the game. The little things in the background were funny too, like having the original source of the pun on one of the screens. Lots of good writing and little minigames almost. Additional things like the little instructional animations makes this feel very polished overall even if the graphics are a bit haphazard (varying pixel sizes etc.) but it really doesn't matter here 😅 Awesome entry!
