Otherwise interesting concept, the resource management side of the game works well with the card game aspect.
Also it looks like my big sword and armor stay equipped across multiple days/combats? Not sure if that's intended considering that I keep drawing their cards
I wouldn't know how to use the drain button if it weren't in the comments.
Playing through again with using that feature is sweet. The art style reminds me a lot of the early Adventure Quest days, but with a card twist :)
The only thing that bothered me a bit was the visual feedback on the blood drain button (or the lack thereof). Other than that, the game was really solid and fun to play.
Great job!
The cards give really satisfying feedback, with the animations and sounds. Some other visuals could be improved a little bit, but it's very good overall! The music fits the game perfectly.
I had a really good experience playing your game, good job!
Edit: I'd love to see an improved version of it, please let me know if you work on this someday!
It could use more cards and option to be a full game.
Great entry!
The UI is a bit awkward, requiring several clicks to play a single card and not much visual feedback to distinguish between picking a card and picking a target. The biggest example of this is the "Drain Blood" button which requires a target but it doesn't ask for one, so at first glance the Drain Blood button seems to do nothing. It would be good to highlight possible targets and just click on a card to play it instead of having a "use card" button. It would also be nice to automatically end turn if there are no enemies left. Some other things that would be nice would be a visual effect for blocking, and a number for the enemies health.
Being able to one-shot enemies at will makes defensive cards seem a lot less valuable, but there is still a nice strategic tradeoff between draining healthy enemies to avoid taking damage vs leaving them alive in the hope of draining more blood on a later turn. Given that you get more blood from low health enemies, it would have been nice if there was some visual feedback to show how much blood an enemy will give.
