Camp Demise by rschoellgen

[raw]
made by rschoellgen for Ludum Dare 50 (COMPO)

You have wandered deep into an abandoned campground called Camp Demise and now you are lost. There are stories of campers who have gone missing and talk of a shadowy creature that lurks in the trees. Use your flashlight (or campfires) to DELAY the monster's attack.

Can you escape death or is it INEVITABLE?

I like the lighting effects! Good job!

Thanks for the game! I liked the overall experience. If I had to suggest one thing - maybe instead of destroying the monster, having the flashlight push monsters away, while more monsters spawn as the time goes on would have made it a bit more interesting.

@waysneighborgo2 thank you!

@uzpykes I actually tried multiple monsters at one point and it was pretty intense. I wanted to explore that more. I think that is a good idea. Perhaps they run away from the light then lurk behind you when it's dark again. Thanks for the feedback.

Very cool concept and atmosphere.Advice: the map seems too large to explore and character speed is too fast to make me feel thrilled. I think if the character moves slower, map smaller and more monsters will make the game more tight.

Oh man this game gives me the willy jillys. I actually like how you could outrun the monsters. It makes it more anxiety inducing knowing they're still out there. The game is very moody, creeps me out having to keep going out in the dark. I got caught up in a deadend after having 3 keys and that was it!

Great atmosphere because of neat graphics style, cozy lighting and good sfx. I liked the theme interpretation, it wasn't ordinary. Overall, cool, working as intended game. Thank you for the submission!

Ah, a slender-eqsue game! Nice work, especially for a compo submission. I liked the sound effects and background ambience. I think it would be nice to be able to toggle the flashlight to conserve battery.

I liked the graphics, the sound. There was no animation for your character, could not find anything, and not sure of the goal

Hello! I just walked, I found nothing, nothing happened :/. That was a boring experience there is a lack of situtation.

Nice base for a creepy game - loved the atmosphere and surroundings but would have liked to see some more gameplay and story - just walked around and had a hard time finding anything to interact with. Anyway - good job for a compo game!

I liked the character pixel art! As a feature request, you could make the lamp rechargeable via a hand generator.

Awesome game atmosphere! Cool art style too. The only thing missing in my opinion is the ability to turn off/on light, to save up battery (or maybe I am missing a button). I was so close, I was missing last key, whne the monster got me :/

Thanks for the game. I think because small hitboxes it is hard for monster to catch the moving player.

Really nice moody game! I played it several times but I couldn't make it to the end. The areas with no batteries were just too difficult. I think a bit of help on the battery life of the flashlight would be nice.
