Insufficient Supper by greymouth

[raw]
made by greymouth for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

A overcooked inspired cooking game where you make recipes, fill orders, and purchase more ingredients/tools.

It is best experienced with a controller, but keyboard will work (no mouse controls though).

There are currently only two recipes in the game (the salad which is shown in the tutorial and a steak) but I hope its still an enjoyable experience.

Cute music and solid tutorial. Some thoughts:

- It took me a while to work out that you could visit the market, the door is sort of hidden between the inventory hotbar.
- The game froze up for me when I tried putting a meat crate on the bench, I wasn't sure how to get the meat out

Nice work on completing the jam!

Congratulation on making a tutorial, that kind of thing takes a lot of time and is often skipped in jam games. I played with keyboard and it was a little bit difficult to understand exactly how to interact with the game (lack of feedback and feedworward). Also I made the mistake to put the ingredients for the salad in a plate rather than a bowl and before cutting them, and I did not find any way to take them back? So, in conclusion, you have a good start if you want to continue this project after the jam :-)

Really cute art style, music, and idea :) However, I was very confused as by the controls, and i think it would have been a lot easier if I could click and drag items about. I wasnt able to fully play the game, as during the tutorial, I wasn't able to place the ingredient in the bowl after chopping them up :(

Love the coherent style, the mood is on point, it could be a finished game (if there was more content) and I wouldn't know it was done during a jam. You really need more recipies to get the player's creative juices flowing, and I think controlls could be more intuitive for keyboard users (although you did warn about that). Also a bonus for the tutorial! in the end the game froze when pressed E at the stove hahah. Anyways, good job!

Cool idea! Really nice audio and art. It would have been even better if I could use a mouse. Well done!

Nice idea! Good job putting in a tutorial and some kind of inventory system. It's a completed game but unfortunately not too engaging. It didn't feel like a challenge and I think having some kind of timer to lose would have done well. Also there should be some way to respawn or sell some things. I felt like I could've sold some bowls or pans or something to buy more ingredients, but I just ran out of money way too quickly. The keyboard controls were not the most intuitive however.
But good job on getting something done and entered, it was cute!

I found a bug where if you use an ingredient crate on the place where you put out your dishes it freezes the game. Other than that I found it a bit confusing to find out what to do after the tutorial, maybe you could explain it a bit better. The thing that really stood out for me was the pixel art, some nice stuff there!

Really nice game! The control with keyboard feels a bit weird and takes time to get use to. Cool art style and music!

This was so super cute!

I really enjoyed it, even though the controls (mouse and keyboard) were realllly painful.

If you added in more content post-jam, and fixed the controls, this could be an amazing lil game. Heck if this was given a bit of a storyline I would add it to my wishlist pretty gosh dang fast.

Very well done!

The game froze on manipulating the steak box for me as well.
I tried to play with controller but couldn't figure out how to browse the inventory. Is it a bug?
Overall, that's a solid foundation to make a game upon:)

I definitely didn't expect the pixelart to rotate around as physics objects, that was a funny realization the first time I threw down a bowl! The market is a really nice design addition instead of the time constraint that comes with Overcooked (since you listed that as inspiration) nice entry!

Pretty lovely game! But I found a bug that when you drop tomato you can push it outside the wall lol
