Really enjoyed this, way more weapons than you'd think would be in a jam game, although some of them feel like they aren't really making a dent in the blob.

Also didn't realize you have enough health you can actually stand in the blob for a little while a chop it up until after a couple of attempts where I died by blowing myself up.

Really fun to play, some weapons are very exciting, and it gets very frantic towards the end
(My best was 1.55)

Lasted 2:21! Great amount of guns and the action towards the end, but what I liked the most was the announcer announcing the picked guns, that was hilarious!

Challenging game! I included it in my Ludum Dare compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/hRXrVepHVBk

I like the visuals and the idea, but i think some of the weapons should be way stronger. everything but explosive weapons dont really feel like they're making an impact

Great Game!

Two tiny Nitpicks:
* the Audio was pretty loud
* I have two Monitors, and the game was opening on the left one (which is not my main monitor).

Hello! First of all PLEASE REDUCE THE SOUND OF YOUR GAMES. The concept is great and I found how to survive without problem. You just need to spam the laser sword.

Incredible game, loved it! Unique idea (almost jealous I didn't come up with something like that :D), satisfying shooting controls, fun to mess around. There are a few things that I would change, though. The rockets launched by bazooka seem to acquire player's speed at launch, so they'll move in a direction other than where the player was aiming. No other type of weapon seems to do this, so this leads to some awkward inconsistency. In general I think it's best to avoid this type of velocity transfer for games where you move around a lot. Secondly, the green blobs shrink when you hit them, making them harder to destroy (smaller hitbox), which leads to frustrating situations where you've been shooting at an area for a long time yet didn't actually kill anything. Maybe this could be avoided by tracking blob hitpoints separately from growth size, and indicate hitpoints somehow (e.g. low-health blobs are reddish in color). Of all the weapons I found only the laser blade to be able to consistently kill the blobs and almost win indefinitely, but I had to click the mouse like 5-10 times per second which makes your finger tired in about 10 seconds :) This leads to my third suggestion: maybe the player attacks automatically (with some weapon-dependent period) if the left button is pressed?
Overall a cool & addictive game, fun growth mechanic, enjoyed the game a lot!

P.S. I tried the Linux version first (since I'm using, well, Linux) and it crashed my window manager (xmonad, to be precise). It's actually the first time I've seen something cause it to crash and I have absolutely no idea how this could happen. The Windows version worked just fine under the Wine emulator.

I just used my sword and got 3:22 by clicking fast, I feel like it might be too powerful, but overall very fun game.

Oh hey, I love that y'all also made a game about a blob lol.

The sound effects are hilarious! Love the voice bits for each weapon. I did end up finding an exploit I think 😅. If you keep the blobs low enough eventually they all spawn close enough to crates that they can't grow to full size because they bump against the crates. At that point they can't spread any further.

I eventually just decided to close the game but I got over 10 minutes before I did lol.

When I wasn't breaking the game I did have a ton of fun with it though, nice work!

@kingofspill Yea, I knew it would be possible to cheese it if the blobs/crates spawned too close to each other. But it’s still hard to achieve so well done on managing it.

Innovative and good game. Of the problems, I can note that here you can endlessly survive, and such a strategy is very easy to find. And so you can add bonuses

Haha, I had som much fun with this, great stuff. The variety of weapons is impressive and each one plays so differently. You took me back to my Liero days. I think this may be my favorite game in the "survive as long as you can" sub-theme of the compo. I like it how at first it feels like I have control and can win, but after a short while, the boxes don't spawn anymore and I'm swinging my blade like there's no tomorrow, because well, there actually is no tomorrow and the end is nigh.

Cool idea! Nice sound effects and I like the variety in weapons. I lasted for 2:25s.

And on the screenshot, the mess I got myself into trying to get a medipack XD

I had a really fun time with this! I played through it I think 3 times, ending up with not quite a 3 minute High score. The first 2 times I died from the disc gun, but I got the hang of it after that. I really really dug the crunchy sound effects and voice over. It lent it a familiar charm.

Supper fun overall, hope you do well in the scores!

Expected projectiles and got initially confused by the blade when it did nothing at a distance but figured it out soon enough, embarrassing 😅 Good game feel to a lot of this, fun to try all the different upgrades and to work your way through some blobs walling in another crate. Funny sound effects ofc. And a good title!

Great game ! Classic but well made, I had good fun. I like the voice when you grab a weapon, it reminds me of Metal Slug

Good job !

Fun game! Good job with the voiceovers, and I liked the art a lot. Once you start to fall behind, it gets unmanageable pretty quickly. I suppose that's the point/is in keeping with the theme, but it'd be nice to feel like you have a bit more chance to reverse the tide - at least for a bit. Nice work!

This rules. The weapon variety is astonishing, and the voice acting is hilarious. I kinda wish that the weapons were a little more rapid fire, especially the slow ones, so you could achieve more of that "shredding" factor that makes games like this fun. Also, being able to see the weapons before you pick them up would make the experience more strategic and more personal, as players would be able to go for their favorite. Also some heavy metal background music would suit this game to a 'T,' though that's just a bit of my personal taste. Great job, this is one of my favorites.

Quite fun! I know I quickly found that I liked some weapons more than others. I wish the flame thrower was more effective.

The controls were intuitive, and you did well on the UI. I found the voice effects were harsh and loud compared to the music, which was awkward at night as I am playing it with my speakers instead of headphones.

This is basically top-down super crate box, but it works really well for such a simple idea! Does the disc gun home in on you on purpose?
