Warrior's way by Remn

made by Remn for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

If you decide to follow the way of battles and battles, first learn how to use a sword. The better you do it, the more chances you have to delay your inevitable death. Remember that sword wounds don't heal so easily. The scars from them remain for life.

An interesting idea and a cool implementation. 3d models look cool and the overall visual is beautiful. I think improvements are required (to make a smoother camera, and responsive controls), but overall cool.

Cool conept! Beautiful game, the 3D was really great, my only complain would be that it was a bit slow, every movement takes a lot of time, but beside that it's a good experience!

Like the concept but had some problems with the controls responding when I clicked them.

Beautiful art and great music. I didn't find it very clear whether the character was reacting to my input or the enemies actions. The camera was quite jarring because it moves so much (really glad this wasn't a VR game!). Also one encounter I could just spam "w" and win. Could be great with some minor improvements.

The 3d art is so good! the scenes and characters are very good, maybe it would be great to add more depth to the scenes. The sound and music are excellent, on the other hand I played it several times and I didn't get to kill any enemy, it kicked me to the start menu after a while, maybe I´m not doing something right or it's a bug? maybe I will run out of time, if so it would be great to add a timer in the UI. Great job, congratulations!

Really liked the art and atmosphere, time changing was also a good choice. The controls could be a bit more responsive, and the camera was swinging too much from attacks imo, I'd tune it down  When I had 0 HP, I had no way to restart, I'd be in menu, and each time press W to play, it'd start only for half a second maybe and get back, since my HP was 0 I guess.

This is a nice concept for a VR game! It reminded me of Karateka and the series of battles you have to take on before getting to the castle!

@necdilzor We didn't even know about the existence of such a game. In spirit, it is similar to our game.

A really nice concept! I had some issues with the controls but I think with some more polish it could make for a pretty good game.
Often times my block wouldn't work consistently (sometimes I could hold it down, other times it would just work for a second or so), spamming buttons would sometimes stack moves, the animations can sometimes take a little long which makes it harder to respond quickly and the camera animation was a bit too intense which made it hard to see what was going on. Maybe it could work better in third person or with smoother animations? I also didn't notice the healthbar at first and it'd be nice to have some settings to control audio for example.

I really liked having to think about blocking or dodging though, makes for some good gameplay and the graphics were also really well done! For such a short timeframe you made a pretty nice game, with a little more polish I could see it being a really solid game. Good job! :D

Cool combat system! I think the complaints with controls might be coming from the fact that they are animation based and they all take a while to reach the action part. To feel responsive, I think they need to be snappier with barely a few frames between input and action effect. I liked the models a lot and think the music matched well, but I think the health bars were perhaps too subtle. A more contrasty color to make it more visually obvious as well as lots more feedback for hit/miss as well as block would have helped me a lot. Would be interested to see this combat system developed further to see where it goes, it's a cool start!

Nice game. I like the 3d environment. The camera was a bit disorienting at times.

I found a way to cheese the combat :P You spam LMB until the enemy blocks you, you kick them and then repeat.

@aevek I will continue development after Ludum Dare. I'll fix the camera and animations, add a narrative.

A cool idea, but the camera is a bit disorientating.
It would be nice if death didn't immediately cut to the statue screen.
It also feels a bit broken when you run out of hp.
I enjoyed playing, Good job.

The camera is very jarring! Got headaches after a while.. the transitions could be smoother! Overall, it was a fun experience though.

Cool idea, the graphics look pretty decent. The main sticking point for me is the camera, it started giving me headaches after a few rounds. Also not sure if the game bugged for me but I don't seem to be able to die? My health went to zero but I can keep getting hit without the game ending.

Looks and music is really good but that camera is a bit jarring. The combat is cool but not very difficult or responsive. I don't think spamming attack should let them chain so much.
