made by AlexDaCxt for Ludum Dare 50 (COMPO)

captureludumdaregame.PNG Harold has lived a wonderful life and has done many fabulous things. He has been putting off dying, and the grim reaper is fed up. This is my first submission and I only used about half the time. But everything in the game is original! I used asperite for art, bfxr and audacity for sound effects, and bosca ceoil for music, also I used the unity game engine.

made it to round 5 though the text was a bit small on the character and it was hard to read. i would do some chat boxes on the sides maybe with bigger text.

"That's a Bingo" OMG this is hilarious :joy: I love all of the witty quips throughout the game! It's also very well fleshed out overall. Controls were intuitive and it was easy to figure out what to do.

Potential improvements: it seems like there are a few different pixel scales being used (tiles, cars, death guy, time, text boxes, etc.), so see if you can settle on a single lower resolution/grid to prevent the different sizes from clashing. It could also be nice to have some sort of transition between rounds, perhaps with widening roads that you have to cross in less time or something?

this has many great aspects of what a makes a game good. what really separates this from the rest is the humor and the cohesiveness of the art and style. i liked the game feel although the moving to a new tile felt a little delayed overall. the particles were great. although it would have been nice to see some size differentially for the individual particles. the game was quite fun to play.

Great original concept. Reminds me of frogger and crossy road but with the GRIM REAPER coming straight for you!
The music is appropriately tense and I like that you string the levels together and make them harder but let me keep going until I die (in keeping with the theme!)

Absolutely loved the lines he says when you almost get hit. Not only are they funny but they also show you how close you were to dying. In general. it's quite a nice simple game. I wish there was more variety but I think me asking for more game is a good sign that this was great.

7 rounds! Suck that death!

As people commented, it's a great way to use Frogger's mechanics. The humor in the death lines and the use of different phrases when cars pass very close gave a special touch.

I loved the song, it created a tension without taking away the mood.

Congratulations!

Very crunchy entry, and I love the presentation of it. I can't get very far, though. I don't have the reaction time, plus the delayed movement is very tough. There's a lot of little details that make this very nice. I enjoyed being able to walk off the screen at the end of the round. The little quips were a nice touch, as well!

Verry good first submission! I love the retro style. It remembered me the Atari games. The game is very polished and really fun. Congratulations.

@yusovv To be honest it kinda just came to me! I was thinking of ideas I could prototype fast and frogger seemed like the way to go, and a way to make that into delaying the inevitable would be to make it into a bullet hell! Sadly I was not able to fully create a bullet hell like game, as I only have the car mechanic. The theme for the old guy came from the way I implemented the movement, the incremental movement with a cooldown reminded me of how an old man walks with a walker. This old man's obvious enemy? Death!

Also thank you to everyone who has played my game! There is a lot I would change looking back, and I would also work much harder on the artwork and music. I hope you had fun! Also if you need some ratings on your game let me know and I'll play it!

Really good twist on Frogger! Even better knowing you did it in half the time. Great idea.

I haven't played a frogger like game in a long time, thanks for making this game.
Nice work.

I loved the gameplay and the fisheye shader. The sound is really good, and the grid movement was a good choice to complement the theme. The highscore makes it very replayable, and guarantees the arcade atmosphere present in older games. My only suggestion would be to revise the pavement texture, it seems to be at a higher resolution than the other objects on screen.

A fun take on frogger. I really enjoyed the sound effect of the grim reaper laughing when the level started. The controls felt good and the gameplay was interesting. The music was a bit repetitive for me, but overall an impressive first submission.
