I really like the graphics and the way the ship feels to use.
However, I don't really understand what the objective is, and I keep dying once I get even a glimpse of an enemy ship. You might want to zoom the camera out a bit sooner so the player has time to react.

@ideaspersecond Thanks for playing so quickly after the post. We definitely ran into the ludum dare time constraints. We had only finished the game engine a few hours before the deadline and rushed to try to get a few levels created.

We just spent the past 12 hours polishing the entire game though, so I hope you'll be able to try playing it again if you can.

Took some tries to understand what to do and what not to do.
I could get the fun of this game. I only wish player's shots would be stronger.
Nonetheless, I could see the theme in this game.

Definitely a bit difficult to grasp the concepts but a really cool game in concept. I would say a tutorial level of sorts as well as what IdeasPerSecond said about zooming out the camera would benefit the game a lot so as such I think this is an amazing project with great potential so maybe consider continuing it or doing some post-submission updates (just make sure to keep a link to the original as well). Now then, the audio and the graphics were ON-POINT! Even if I didn't know what all was going on for a fair bit, I was down for whatever it was throughout cause something about the classic old-arcade-esque space ships is so satisfying, especially when it has been recreated so well. Great job y'all!

Great graphics and sound! Emphasizing the protection part of the mission is also a nice idea. For me the control scheme was a bit difficult to get used to at first, but other than that it's really polished!

I was intriged for the art, but stayed for de audio. Man, it´s amazing! Both sfx and music fit perfectly in the game. A suggestion: did you try to make the laser sound a bit shinier?
The story is something I strongly recommend to work. The levels are almost the same. Adding some variations will create a lot of replayability.
Congratulations very much for this submission. It was really enjoyable!

I love the music and exciting gameplay! If you keep working on this game, I'd suggest an in-game tutorial to help explain the objectives. Congrats on completing an awesome jam entry!

Nice arcade-y shooter! I love to see things made in Pico-8, and I think you guys did great with making the art and music style fit the engine's limitations. Like some of the others said, it took me a while to figure out what the heck I was supposed to do, but I had fun trying to protect the Pig planet once I sorta figured out what to do. Never did quite delay the inevitable though, but I could just be bad at video games. Cool game!

@glove Thanks for the input. I actually just uploaded an update where the game zooms in at the beginning, then stays zoomed out. I think that makes it easier to see enemies.

Really nice work here. Great art and music. The interactions between the different entities in the game add a lot of complexity from just a few simple rules. Awesome! :rocket:

Heyo, thanks for submitting your game to stream! Again, I'm sorry I couldn't do it justice, but it all looks very nice and polished. Here's the vod if you'd like to rewatch: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1449607637

Great game! super addictive and fun jaja! I found it quite difficult to play, it takes a while to get used to it and not die trying xD. The pixel art is simple but super complete and worked, there are many good ideas, from the radar lines, to the limits of the zones, the animations, really very good. Great job!

Amazing game! Gotta say, *really* hard though. I only managed to win on the cat planet, but I can still say I love the game! The music is fantastic and I really like the art! It's simple yet it's executed amazingly! 4 outta 5 stars from me! ;)

This was really fun! Simple, tight, and enjoyable. I appreciated the thought you put into the level selection being "in-game" and how intuitive the level start was (start as soon as you move). Where did you get the idea for "wob" and "rewob"?? Too funny.

Got here from the Aarimous stream, really nice game! I liked how you incorporated the gameplay into the level select menu. The graphics and music were also really well done! The animation on the sprites makes it feel a lot more alive, the feedback you get when things happen in the game is good, and the music and sound effects are also really well made. It was really hard though, I couldn't protect any of the planets, but still really fun to play and overall a really solid game! Good job :)

We updated the game with level progression, a few more (easier) levels, as well as some more songs. So the game should be easier to get into for those who were having trouble getting started.

Super cute game, loved everything about it. The simple pixel art graphics were mesmerising and remined me of some of the effects from Celeste, and the chiptune soundtrack was really good. Gameplay was fun and easy to understand. Great entry, the team should be very happy with what they accomplished. :D
