Dino Village by Suchista

[raw]
made by Suchista for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

ALERT! A big meteor is heading down the Earth. The last dinosaurs gathered on a gable to build a shelter. Your task is to help them!

LD50gifdemo_1.gif

:goal: Goal: - The ultimate goal is for the dinosaurs to survive both the meteor fall and flood. - The clock is ticking, the cataclysm will come. But you can delay it by shooting the meteor with lasers fueled by biodegradable waste (i.e. dino poop). - Dinosaurs need food to live and make poop

:notebook: More details for interested: - You need to build a shelter and a dam. - To do that, you will need 3 resources: gold, food and poop. - To produce them, you will need gold mines, windmills and dinos.

:joystick: Controls: - You only need a mouse. - Click on poop to gather it. - Click on hungry dino to feed it. - Place new buildings onto available spots to build them.

 Too much clicking?

In the postjam version you can just hold left mouse button down to gather poop and feed dinos!

Pretty fun and balanced, but too much clicking! I wish I could just hold down the mouse button to vacuum up poop and feed dinos, my frail programmer hands can't handle that much stress lol

I generally like the idea and having a game where collecting dinosaur poop gives you money certainly has a market. But I agree that it's very clicky and the colours / art is a bit dull.

Good entry though! You implemented it smoothly

This game is awesome! I really like the pressuring aspect to it. Unfournetly I am too incompetent to not let my dinos starve, but after a bit I managed that too.

Really like the idea. Graphics are cute <3

Liked your game! Never saw so much sh*t in my life but I won't complain.

I like your game and I love dinosaurs :) - so I clicked as fast as I could, but they didn't survive
Your submission perfectly matches the theme, is creative and fun to play. But I agree with the others that it's a bit too much clicking. Maybe the poop should spawn less often?

I love dinosours, and the game is fun, i matched the theme perfectly, delaying meteor with a poop - awsome, overall great music, nice simple graphics, good game!

Gives Diablo 2 a run for its money in the click department.

Nice! Feels like a pretty complete game cycle, it would be interesting to see you keep expanding this idea.

Just piling shit to stop a flood is a great mood, love it

Why is this my favorite game? A bit to much clicking, but otherwise very creative and hunorous. Great job!

I love dinosaurs! So I had to play this game :D

I still have to figure out how to win. It's quite tricky. But I had a good time so far. Good job :)

That was a fun puzzle. I wasn't sure what you were suppose to do after you build the shelter, other than wait for the meteor to land. Thanks for the game, I had fun.

Pretty fun! Thanks for making the no-click version. Definitely saved my wrists :-)

Nice game. It is hard to detect which dino is hungry and which isn't. Is there a way to win? Or the theme means you meant to be loose.

Great concept! I really liked how there is a "right answer" but it's entirely reachable while playing. The no-click version is even better! Nice visuals too, it's full of personality.

Awesome take on the theme, full marks for originality, pretty sure this is unique  Music has a certain ancient/classical quality which somehow elevates the unusual primary task of the game. Fun to play, well done.

I had fun, all the systems seems to work pretty well. I did have a bit of trouble seeing my cursor when I went full screen but other than that the game was very readable.

On this jam I've seen various games with idea like this, but this one is my favorite by far. Wacky, psychedelic, with a hint of good ending.

cute little game, i tried so hard to keep my dinos alive but never realized there's a Delay button for the meteor until like the 5th retry lmao... without delaying though, i think there's a bug because if you managed to build the shelter first, when the timer runs out for shelter it triggers the flood game over even though there's still like 30+ seconds on the clock for flood (jam version)

A very entertaining experience that is! I love how the game was drawn and the music is nice as well! I don't know if it was supposed to be funny but it is. In a a very pleasant way🙂
Too much clicking the say. But you know, it's a clicker game! So far the best one I've played this Jam. Wish you good luck! 🦕🦕🦕

Super fun game. I played to the end. I really like the sound effects for everything and I launch fecal matter at meteors in my free time. The music is great. It feels like it was made for the dinosaur era. This is a great idea and it is really cute. Thanks for the game!

So much clicking. I enjoyed the hand drawn graphics. Music and sound effects were nice as well.

Took some strategizing but I got it eventually! I wasn't sure if something was supposed to happen when I bought the shelter (like if I was supposed to build it). Also didn't realize I could build where the dinos were walking around until the first time I got the flood.

Awwww, cute little dinos! Too bad for them I suck at hoarding food, and the asteroid got em. Got the dam though! Even though it's minimalistic, the design on this is great! Good job!

Solid entry, Really hits the theme and is a cute clicker game that gets you into the rotation pretty fast.
I think the fact that I immediately replayed it after my first run because I knew I could do better was a testament to how much fun it was.
I think improvement-wise it would help knowing that things like the flood would destroy my food production before hand, knowing that I only have X amount of time to hit food cap definitely changes how I approached priorities in the game. Great game !

The sort of hand drawn-ish look to this is very cool. It's a really nice sort of encapsulation of management type games. The dinosaurs are cute and the whole thing has a lovely sense of levity about it!

Awesome game! Love the game mechanics and the graphics. I normally don't like games where you need to click too much, but I think the idea behind the game justifies it. Besides, it wasn't as much clicking as I thought. Great job!

I am a simple man, I see dinos, I play. It was amazing, so simple but in the same time effective, I tried two times (but failed both oops). Awesome entry, one of my faves definitely.

Wow that was great! Nice variant of a cookie clicker! I managed to barely win the first attempt. The balancing was really on point and it was a matter of seconds. I really liek that you could actually win and have a true goal.
