It's simple but it's well implemented, good job!

At first I didn't understand that the crystals had to be shot, it looked like bonuses to collect.

I think that adding some music would really help with the mood, I always think it's worth taking one hour to create a 10 seconds looping music :)

Nice entry!

Thanks for the feedback @rolly! Yeah it was a poor choice the diamond looking things as destructible crystals  I had something else in mind but didn't get to it :disappointed:
As for the music yeah I really tried to have some sounds but I was too tired by the end and had to work the next day so I need to explore that next time!

Simple and fun game. I reckon with more time you could have expanded on the graphics and sound

Very cool! Would really benefit from some very simple sound effects and music. A tool like jsfxr is great for creating interesting sfx in almost no time at all (https://sfxr.me/). But it's a very playable game! It was fun, and I did want to play through a second time.

Nice game! Reminded me of Super Crate Box in a good way. I wasn't really clear on what determines when the meteors will arrive. I managed off 140 of them and the meteors came after 1:10. The game was really pleasant to play. Well done!

Nice game and idea! I'd say it needs some polishing, though. The controls felt a bit clumsy and lacked inertia. Furthermore, there's hardly any reason to move at all, since this increases your chances of being hit by those balls. After several attempts I tried just staying in the starting corner protected by a platform above and shooting somewhere to the right, and didn't lose any HP at all! So maybe the game needs some actual reason to move. Anyways, nice game, good job!

@cogcomp @lisyarus Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback!
@lisyarus yeah one of the things I was most sad about was that I didn't get enough time to make the enemies a bit more interesting specially because you could just stay put and shoot them from a distance :disappointed: My next step was to add some simple shooting enemies so that you were forced to move. I bet that would make a lot of difference but next time I'm sure I'll be better!

Fun game with a nice arcadey feel.

Also took me a bit to understand that you could destroy the crystals.
The first thing I did was just to stay put and shoot enemies, but that's clearly not enough to get a good score.

Fun game! It felt a little easy to stay in pace and spam shoot maybe you could lower the shot speed in an update or throw in some harder enemies with health bars.

@paroxysmal @jd557 @studio-vykanic thanks for the feedback!
Yeah the crystals were a poor choice of design as they feel more like pickups :disappointed:
And yeah it's easy to stay put and shoot everything, I'm really sad that I didn't manage to introduce a ranged enemy at least. But oh well next time it will be better :muscle:

Interesting idea that stays true to the theme. Only complaint is that it seems pretty easy to last forever if you find a good spot and just hold the shoot button. Limited ammo that you have to refill or enemies getting harder to kill over time might have circumvented this. Good fun otherwise, though!

There's a lot of moving pieces to this, but everything works really smoothly. I really like the parts of the art that are more fleshed out (the UI hearts look really good).

A couple of more constructive thoughts...It took me a minute to realize I needed to do something with the diamond, I wonder if you could have signposted what that was a little better? Maybe spinning the sprite to make it stand out or something? Another minor suggestion would be replacing the mouse cursor with some sort of crosshairs image.

In all, I enjoyed it!

@charred-axolotl @josh-riley Thanks for the great feedback!
@charred-axolotl I actually hadn't though of limited ammo that could have been and easy addition that would solve the standing still problem as well  Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for future games
@josh-riley yeah the were a lot of problems with the diamond :disappointed: Actually some spinning or pulsing could have made it at least more understandable that it was special  I'll also keep in mind that crosshairs suggestion, you are right it would make a big difference and it's an easy thing to do

I was smashing mercilessly my mouse left button when I discovered that you could hold it! XD
Anyways fun simple game! My score was 1:45, 247 kills

Fun game and controls feel smooth. Only thing I would say is it seems easy to stay in one spot and keep shooting to survive longer, so having limited bullets would make it more of a challenge and force you to move around. Good job overall!

Like the comments above, very smooth game and well put together! I'm terrible at platformers so didn't do too well but the lil dude was adorable and it's sad that he had to die...

Most of the graphics were really nice and I love the subtle touch of the grass leaving marks where it's shot. Really makes the world more dynamic and is nice feedback from your actions. However, I think the enemies do let you down a bit since they're probably most of what the enemy is focusing on but feels a little like you left a placeholder in there. I think a simple particle effect on their death would have jazzed it up a bit and made them a little more interesting although I get that you probably just didn't have time!

Overall, great game and really well put together with all the different components!

Nice base mechanics for a shooter! I noticed that the gun looked very different to the other art. It seems to be something you downloaded from the internet. The UI as well. I hope that you'll join again, but maybe read the rules carefully. This kind of game is ok in the Jam format, but not in the Compo format you joined.
