Doomed To Progress by JordyRG

[raw]
made by JordyRG for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

Oooh, these tiny, stupid beings. Look at them, left unattended, they will certainly find their to death and misery in this weird planet. Now, it's up to you, overseer, to look after them and halt their never-ceasing progress towards doom. Or at least try. Play as an galactic overseer trying to avoid a civilization to reach a point of no return in their path of progress. Manage their access to resources and unleash catastrophes to keep them in check, until their eventual demise. All in their best interest, of course.

HOW TO PLAY:

The buttons on the bottom left corner of the interface are the actions you can take once the energy bar cross it's threshold. Using an action consume all of your energy. From left to right, those are: - TERRAFORM: Draw two tiles from the stack. Click in one of them to put on top of the stack, the other one will be put on the bottom. - DEPLETE: Click on tile on the board to remove all resources from it. - SUNDER: Destroy the last constructed building and remove it's effect. Not all building's effects can be removed. - BOMBARD: Click on a city to destroy it. - MASS AMNESIA: The civilization lose all insight. The current technology is lost and another one is choosen.

Use (Right arrow) to speed up the game, and (Left Arrow) to slow it down.

Move the camera with the middle mouse button.

unfortunately, i didn't manage to release a build for Web. Try to this one alone and way a bit of a stretch, but i'm pretty proud of the result. If you would be so kind as to download the game to leave a review, i'd love that, and of course i'll leave a review for you as well! Also, didn't manage to put the audio in, my bad!!

The progress bar on the bottom covered up the tiles and the UI buttons making the game mostly unplayable. Still, trying to click around that and take wild guesses as to what the buttons did it was still pretty compelling. I'm a sucker for hexagons, pixel art and strategy games so thank for for delivering all those!

It would be nice if the abilities had a tooltip so that you could easily tell what your actions would do.
