Sick Air Bro by Joymagine
MY FIRST LUDUM DARE !!!
April 5 12:30pm - Updated to v1.1 - adjusted values to balance gravity vs pickups simmer link, and LD50 on itch.io are the 1.0 version the html5 on itch.io and 1.1 are v1.1
You are a Skiier catching the sickest air ever off of a Ski Jump travel the longest distance possible, and reach the highest height you can. collect balloons and rockets to go higher and stay airborne, or, flap your arms, it helps probably.
move left and right to collect more balloons and rockets.
I made all graphics myself I used UnityStore bought asset for the Music, and SFX (except my voice clip)Post-Time changes : added Icon to the .exe , altered gravity accel from 1.2s timer to 0.6s timer
- iam not great at making things fast so it probably has bugs and quality problems. Thank You, this is my first Ludum Dare, its been quite an experience. I wasted too much time, and wasn’t totally in the right mood to code sometimes, I wish I made the Compo, I feel like I almost could have, I feel like I wasted more time than I should have hopefully next Ludum Dare I will bring my A game and be properly prepared. Iam SUPER glad I finished a Ludum Dare, I have been wanting to for years, I have tried in the past and given up very too soon.! *

I think it would be cool if the clouds in the background would move.
It could use some variety, and maybe a scaling difficulty when you get higher.
Great entry!
The opening of the game looks cute, with the skiier going down the mountain, while flying through the air it was bit confusing but then I realized I was supposed to move around. The movement was pretty slow and might work better if it was a bit faster, but it did work!
Overall, well done on making a full game experience!

Thanks to the stats at the top I was able to check that I am indeed going up and further. It was a little bit like flying the airplane using only the gauges and other controls - as the sky/landscape behind doesn't allow to quickly recognize how fast you're going - would love to see background somehow communicate the speed and direction that you're going!
Thanks to the sounds it was clear to me when I picked up a power up - some visual feedback would also be good - like some particles or the screen flashing!
Congrats on completing your first LD! For me, each LD event teaches me a lot about game making, but also a lot about organizing myself to work in the most efficient way - and decide what is most important etc. Keep it up, hoping to see your future LD games!
:v:
Also, on my first run it didn't immediately click for me that I could touch and should touch the rockets since in my mind they were obstacles. I'm not sure how you would go about fixing that. I understand you did write down that you could collect the rockets in your instructions but I like to first play the games without reading any instructions so I can provide better insight. It helps me notice things that I might not otherwise notice and can hopefully help you or any other.
Still apart from these minor issues, well done. I'm sure with this first ludum dare under your belt, any of your future ludum dare entries will be at least 10x better. Keep it up!
