Description

Void Prison is an Endless arcade game about fighting against the inevitable void. Your job is to survive as long as possible without falling into the void that is coming for you. But it wont be that easy because multiple enemies with different abilities will try to push you into the void. However in help comes the dodge roll and various pickups that will help you dodge bullets or clear enemies out of screen.

That's my number 1 rn. very cool and polished bullet hell game. I love the "push" instead of "kill" concept.

Really fun game, as someone who's put at lot of hours into Gungeon you've really captured the tight dodge and roll movements whilst you unload every bullet you have into enemies. Great job!

This game feels great to play. Tons of player feedback, screenshake, strong controls. Reminds me of Vlambeer games and Enter the Gungeon. Clean, readable art with smooth animatons, solid sounds and music. I like the idea that the bullets push you into the wall instead of killing you. I wouldn't have minded the enemy projectiles being just a hair slower, but that may just be a poor reaction time thing on my part. Nice work!

A very great game. It reminds me a lot of Gungeon, but in a good way. It feels very tight, the pickups make sense, and the gameplay loop is fast and solid. Really well done!

First of all the tutorial:

I really liked the tutorial. The visual feedback when completing a step is nice.

We feature 2 play modes, one is harder than the other.
The assisted mode can get boring over time, but it's a good starting point when dying over and over in competitive mode, so one can learn the mechanics of the enemies, which is a good one.

Audio:
The music is a nice non annoying loop, but compared to the sounds a little bit to loud.
The sounds and music still create a good athmosphere.

Controls:
The controls feel good, we have a direct feedback and the movement decently matches the animations.
I especially like, that you added a recoil to your gun shots here. Being able to dash through enemy shots feels good!

Animations:
In general there i feel, that much love went into the animations an little details here.
For example, when shooting the clouds at the edge of the arena, they pop.
Also i'm a fan of the spawn animation of the little "Bat-Like" enemies, as it looks like they step through a portal on the ground.

Theme:
The theme is met, delaying the inevitable by keeping the arena at a reasonable size.

Fun:
Personally i'm just really bad at these type of games, but that's definetly not your fault.
Having a Highscore to hunt does always motivate to play another round though.

Innovation:
I guess it's the first time i saw a change of size on the arena depending on how you perform in the game in this genre.

Things i disliked:
It would have been great to be able to adjust the volume of music / sounds.
The menu itself is nice, the only thing i dislike about it are the missing visual feedback options on your butotns. Like some mouseover/hover effect and/or an click effect would greatly add to the impressium.

1:07:76 was my best.
This game is great, well done!
I love the intensity, the speed at which it ramps up, the mechanic of only dying if you hit the void.
The graphics are really cohesive and all the effects really add to the atmosphere.

Would love to see a leaderboard so I can be competitive against people without them knowing.

Would also like some volume control, other than that the menu screen looks like it fits the game really well.

Incredibly good game! The killing was really satysfying, the art was gorgeous and the SFXs well made! It has a lot of replay value that makes it even better as a whole!

The only thing i must point out was the rolling: i was a bit disappointed when i noticed there were no particles for the rolling, i was really looking forward to it lol

Great experience on this one ! The game feel is very good, I love all the juiciness we get and all the visual work to make the overall pleasing and easy to play.

I just wonder why we have to click on buttons to shoot as the best strategy according to me was to keep the left button pressed :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice, I like top down shooters and this one is really fun. And the particle effects and border look really good. Also nice varierty of enemy types and the music is a good fit. Maybe the shooting would feel even more satisfying if the bullet impact would add a bit knockback to the enemies. Also don't worry about the menu, it's fine!

Super cool game, very polished and very clean in the execution ! The pixel art and the particles effects are also top notch. The only downside for me would be that when the player does not stay at the center of the screen, sometimes aiming around it with the mouse can feel a little inaccurate. But that's minor, all in all it was a super nice entry. GREAT JOB !

Tight tight tight!

But seriously, a very nice and smooth game.

Would be great to have some retention mechanism inside, like earning achievements or getting extra weapons, but for the jam I think your game size is fitting.

Ah shoot, game is hard. I'm an Enter The Gungeon veteran and I had to grind a bit to get over 2 min.

Great art and music. Great enemy design and spawn sets. My only complaint is the lack of reason for me to release the fire button. It doesn't slow me down, there is no ammo limit, I can even shoot while rolling. If I'm gonna be holding LMB for the whole time, might as well make shooting a default behavior. (also bullet being faster usually wont convey the idea that they hit harder. Make them bigger perhaps? :D)

Solid 4.5/5. Amazing.

Ok so I have the opinion that making a dynamic top down shooter with cool graphics and sound is cheating, cause it's like the "easy"-guaranted success...yet I can't stop from loving them every single time. And this one is just super, super good ! The controls are perfect, graphics and sound are amazing and have very strong identity. It's also very well paced and balanced. So overall great idea perfectly executed :)

WOw, this was fantastic. I think it's my favorite of the jam so far. You guys put so much polish into it. The fact that different enemies spawn each time kept me playing again and again. My favorite part was when I realized the enemy bullets don't hurt, they push. Brilliant, makes the game really unique. Congrats to everyone!

Very fun, very nicely polished game! The graphics are just perfect. The gameplay reminds me of Enter the Gungeon in a good way. It obviously has a super high skill ceiling which is very cool. Having the bullets only push you is a super elegant design decision. By the way, your main menu, which you call "ugly" looks freaking beautiful!

Great job!

This game is just like Enter the Gungeon in the terms that I am really bad at it and cant survive for longer than a minute. The entire presentation is so polished and so crisp that I can not believe this was made in three days. The sprites are really nice, the soundtrack SLAPS and the sound effects are really nice. The one thing I would change is to make the character less floaty in controls. Otherwise the roll was nice and worked and the gameplay loop was fantastic. Please expand this and take my money. Thanks.

Very tight arcade game here. Love that you have the arena become smaller over time. Ensuring that a player has to be aggressive in how they play and try not to get hit at all because even one hit can be the end. Love the variety in enemy types as well. The only qualm I really have with this game is that sometimes, enemys spawn right on top of you. It can also be annoying when you get shot by an enemy who's offscreen. Other than though, the game's art is sublime and the music is damn catchy. It's a really addictive little game and a damn good entry overall

Ohh this game is adictive! Super nice game to pass the time with if you have a few minutes to spare. Great music, satisfying SFX, nice graphics, simple but super tight controls and a real challenge to play. I only find myself wondering who worked on what (credit your game guys haha!). I think you nail the mood and feel your are going for. It was a lot of fun to roll around and try to stay inside. I am linking the first highlight from the stream here, there is additional gameplay near the end of the stream too when I attempted to beat my score ~32 seconds I think.

I wasn't sure what the blue power ups were doing at first, although I may have started to notice their effects near the end. Pretty sweet game!

Best arcade I've played in this jam! The choice of not using health but instead being pushed to the edge as the death condition is a really simple yet smart and effective innovation. You also nailed the control scheme and the entire game just feels smoothed and polished as hell.

What do you usually associate with an online casino? For example, for me, the symbol of the institution, of course, is roulette. By the way, you can read more about this interesting game of chance in this article https://jednoreki-bandyta.pl/ruletka-online/ there is even a brief history of its appearance, and you can immediately familiarize yourself with the basic rules. This is where you will find useful information on how to find the free version of this game.
