Worm Food by Genpaku
Hey guys, it's a little project for ludum dare 50, i was streaming live making it on twitch(https://www.twitch.tv/genpakuc).
I've made two version of the game, main one is 3D but first one made was 2D to check concept. You can play both of them every one works the same.
Controls:
SPACE or LMB or Touch
Gameplay:
Press space to survive longer without being eaten.

@eaglev above 1 min is a good time, couse every secound game is harder, to the point that you cant hold anymore (this is the "inevitable" point). I don't like my 2d graphic style but that the best i can draw, need to work on that :D
Thanks for playing guys :)
Maybe it'd be fun in a party setting, but just pressing the spacebar doesn't seem very deep :)
I guess this could be complemented by powerups or other key combination. Maybe a typing game?
Yea i could add powerups or make it multiplayer so one player will be monster and other human, who smash his buttons faster. :D
Typing game is a good idea i've never tried to do this genre of games. Maybe i should try. :)
It would be fun if this was a multiplayer the human vs the monster.
Good job!
Thanks.
I think less people will play it if it was multiplayer, couse you'll have to find someone to play with you :D
I really am impressed with the graphics. I'm a 2d only type of person, but maybe I can try out some 3d.
What tools are you using?
2d: just gimp for graphics
3d: i've created my models using simple shapes and "animation rigging" package from unity
Music for both was made in audacity, mostly using my voice.
I lasted for about a minute: dues the difficulty increase with time?
Thanks.
@rinko yea like i said before it make me laugh too. xD
Thanks.
The animations on the snake after eating you are really funny too.
I mean, I think its on purpose, but the gameplay isn't very fun. Its literally just mashing a button...maybe like, having a set of 4 buttons pop up on the screen in random order and having to respond to that instead of just spamming one button over and over again would be a little better. Or maybe playing microgames of some kind. Idk, I just think spamming spacebar for 1 minute isn't really that fun.
However, I still think this is a good entry. It gave me a good laugh and it looks pretty decent. Good job!
@william-corrin yea i know i could make gameplay more fun, but i went the way to make animations funny :P
I'll try to make diferent version of game, now I'm working on mini project for theme "Tame a beast" so I could use this monster and made it that you'll have choices what to do, and this way you can tame him :D So there will be more gameplay.
I love to hear that i've made you guys laughing, that was my main goal :D
Thanks :)
The 2D version is kind of too static, I did not have any feedback about how I was doing.
The 3D is better, but still I would have like to have some struggling of the worm or something to see how I was doing. Just nothing was too little.
The 3D end animation was great, a pity it is just at the end.
But cool idea and 2(!) implementations, wow!
Anyway, great Job!
@itzemii Yea i should do some kind of indicator that you're doing good or bad. Thanks.
@glayson Aww yea, i'll upload video on my youtube channel, but I have about 8 hours of futage to process it will take a while, i'm trying to scrap it a little to make a video max 1-2 hours long :) Thanks.
It's funny to make a 2D drawing game and this version in 3D ! Big gg !
@castoor yea i've used a little inverse kinematics for hands to move with monster mouth. Thanks. :)
Max time I was able to hold as a Cookie Clicker player x)

Now my hands hurt...
Such a simple idea, yet fits the theme perfectly. Interesting to have a 2D and a 3D version, definitely gets some bonus points for the novel idea. Well done!
