It's a fun game, the visual style is fun. Time is flows, people run around and feed the mosquito.
I'm the goddess of mosquitoes!!! Uahaahah

this should be published to mobile phones or itchio after LD, nice game and amazing graphics.

Lovely game! Really simple and easy to understand.

Right now the only problem I see is the fact that the game is not that challenging. But as a game jam, it is great. The controls are nice and simulate the flying well while also making the main gameplay loop better and harder.

Kudos!

@sergiopoverony Wow! you are the Mosquito Goddess! Amazing!! Here is your Trophy :trophy:

@mgear Thanks!

@bangthewall My "Play Testers" were my Wife and my 6 year old daughter, they thought it was too challenging, so I capped how hard it can get. In retrospect that was probably a bad idea. If only I could change those 3 thresholds numbers :face_palm:

@jk5000 Thanks!

@cary-stanley after 19 level - i set mosquito position (see picture) and no move any time )))

Fun little game with very nice graphics. It'd be nice to see something added for the core mechanic, like draining people of all their blood. Good entry.

Nice game and lovely sound effects :joy:
The aspect ratio seems a bit weird for me but I like the aesthetics in general. Good job!

I think it was a bit easy but it looked really good and overall plays pretty well. There are few spots where you can just park your Mosquito and never move and survive.

Overall though it isn't a bad entry and good use of theme. Maybe some sort of difficulty slider or something would have been good.

This game was really funny, I love everything about it. I think having less people onscreen would make it more challenging, those huge heads pack a lot of tasty blood and at such a convenient height.

But this is a jam game so it's perfect, I spent a lot of time playing and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

@sergiopoverony Its like you found the "Safe Zone" in Pacman (I didn't see a picture attached)

@paroxysmal Thanks, yup adding the ability to "kill" the people would definitely add to the game mechanic

@elede thank!

@simplepotential Yes, I capped the difficulty, and regret doing that :disappointed:

@payaosito Haha, I love "those huge heads pack a lot of tasty blood", so true!

Thanks all for playing!!!

Really simple and easy to get a hang of! I enjoyed the art style and simple gameplay but I kind of wish there was more to it. Despite that, it was still really fun!

Controls were a bit floaty, but I think that fit the mosquito perfectly, so I liked it! Some of the 'voice' lines for the victims were a bit loud and repetitive.

Well done!

This is a fun little game. I love the art style and the sound effects, they really compliment each other well and give the game a whimsical, humorous vibe. Gameplay-wise, it does get a bit repetitive after a while, but not quite to the point of tedium.

One other thing I'll mention is I thought the bug spray cans were water bottles at first, because it looks like the people are holding them up up to their mouths to drink from them. I was like, "Why is this guy spitting water at me-- oh, it's not water". This doesn't really detract from the game, just something I found funny that I thought I'd mention.

@frostbiiten thanks!

@raphiell Thanks! Yes, the controls are acceleration based, and meant to be floaty

@colineobordello thanks!

@f1krazy Thanks! Haha yes, by daughter thought the same thing, when I told her it was bud spray, she would laugh and laugh "why are they drinking bug spray!!"

This is a very well polished game. The controls feel good and "mosquito" like, and the art is really cute. I managed to make it 1:39, I don't know if that's good or not.

Really fun idea! Love the theme and the graphics that surround it. I very much enjoyed the ways that dodging and the camping dudes' AI was set up 😁

@orcifried Thanks! Yes, the Campers AI is one of the highlights / learnings of Jam game for me

@cslupius Thanks! Music & Audio are not my strong areas, but learning a little more each game

Great work! Love the artwork, the sound effects, the fact that the humans can hurt spray each other in the eyes so I can munch on them while they scream in pain! A very clever game and nice take on the jam theme. Some variation of the SFX would have been nice. Since mosquitoes drink blood to lay eggs, having a puddle of stagnant water to lay an egg in (e.g. extra life) if you survive long enough would be a neat addition to the game and let it last longer.

One of the funniest entries i played so far! Really nice gameplay and some depth to discover. I don't feel its to easy, but i also did not discover the "safe spots" others mentioned. I would agree, that more campers don't make it harder, maybe even easier. Maybe they could start to work together and attack from different directions at the same time?

You did a great job! I like the minimalistic graphics, gameplay is fun to play. There are some troubles with the sound (sound is not stereo for some reason, characters' sound is way too loud). But in general it's very good, well done!

This is surprisingly good! Theme is on point and the game is fun. The reactions of people getting bitten are really funny :P The bite sound is a little too loud and music a bit repetitive but it's ok. Good job!

@claytonrumley laying eggs is a really clever idea, if I was to expand the game, past the theme to give a larger goal that would be a great addition

@sinus I agree more guys may make it easier with the spray themselves dynamic, originally I didn’t cap the campers in development, You can only imagine the craziness that happened when you has 100+ campers on the screen. 🤪

Love the sound effects and the blocky design of the people! The gameplay is simple and very funny. It could be a bit better shown visually that you get damage flying over someone pointing upwards (I felt like the range looks too short) because I think the fact that you have to sometimes flow below or above these dudes is what makes the game fun to play. Cool entry!

15. Apr 2022 · 17:57 UTC
Thanks @oadt there are little particles from the spray can that damage you if you collide with them. But I could have tinted the mosquito or something to make it more clear you are taking damage
