"...did the theme say 'The Player Is The Monster? No. I read the announcement. It was directed at me. The developer. It clearly said 'You, Paul, Are The Monster!'"

What happens when the game's developer is your enemy? And will he fight fair..?

This game reminds me of the historical re-enactment club my father's friend used to run. They'd dress up in chainmail and pretend to bash each other with steel weapons. I think someone even had to get an ambulance called for them once.

Anyway, nice RPG. Would recommend.

Nice RPG,I enjoyed it. On a side note, the first game I ever programmed was called ancient world of generica. Its funny they both have the same name in them.

Loved this game! A great twist on a theme and you managed to make a game that was both humorous and fun! I'd argue that it could be a little less difficult, but that'd be missing the point, right?

What kind of monster gives a mage spells that are weaker than his physical attack?? Oh, right.

You Paul are a genius. There's no way there will be any funnier games, and you compelled me to play a genre I hate. Good job, 5's all around.

Very funny interpretation of the theme and you made a fun game from the idea. The graphics are great and almost photorealistic. :)
The gameplay is alright, sometimes a little tedious. The stun never ever worked for me. There were also a few minor bugs, like the log not formatting correctly and displaying markup or the first aid changing the bar but not the numeric value of health. Apart from that, the progression felt nice, in the beginning there were some close fights and in the end my chars were unbeatable, just like it should be.
Overall, I enjoyed this a lot, especially the humor (that end screen ^^), good job!

This is the best anybody could have done with this theme.

The best use of the theme and originality by far.
The only thing that it is missing is the audio.
Awesome job.

Idea is great, your writing is fantastic; the stats are a bit obtuse but fit the theme. I couldn't seem to ever get an enemy stunned, and the wild swing was far too inaccurate given that it used stamina and didn't do all that much damage compared to the attack.
Reformatting C: was a nice touch. Got a fair few chuckles from the game overall. Nice job.

P.S. - since you're using unity, don't publish development builds. That just adds an annoying watermark to the corner and pops up the console if an exception pops up.

It took three tries (damned Purple Things!!) but I managed to defeat you.
It was pretty easy once I learned to never use the Mage's skills.
The ending was perhaps less impactful because I'm using OS X... but it's the thought that counts.

The charming costumes really make this stand out from other entries.
Nice work.

Great game. But oh man. Unity Webplayer made my whole computer crash in the end. After losing I pressed the... I forgot what it said. Maybe it was the retry button.

I don't know if anyone ever revisits these pages, but thanks for all the feedback so far!

I don't know what happened with the crash. I've not had it happen with my game, but Unity Player has been a pain in some other entries I've been playing. I'll have look into it.

Also I'll beat you next time. All of you!

Hilarious. In some ways, one of the best games I've played so far this LD. My favorite take on the theme, for sure.

Absolutely loved it! Reminds me of a grail quest :)

I wasn't very good at winning; often got stomped on by the pirates and mages.

Instead of random dice rolls, there could be something the user can influence e.g. a roulette wheel where they can stop it.

Thanks for letting us play your game!

What I liked:

Really liked your interpretation of the theme and the old school RPG gameplay.

Areas to improve:

Hmmm any of my criticisms would be playing right into your hands eh, wooltech? Mechanics could be a bit better explained? Combat system could be more predictable? All part of your monstrous plan I bet!

Had a miserable time... Well done. You are truly a monster!

Congrats!
