LUNAR DANGER by slimabob

made by slimabob for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

HEART-RACING ACTION! SHOCKING HUMOR! GUT-WRENCHING VIOLENCE!

ALL THIS AND MORE IN: LUNAR DANGER!

The moon is haunted! In this daring retelling of MAX DANGER's heroic exploits, take control of the legendary space cadet as he battles hundreds (if not THOUSANDS) of wretched skeletal minions.

Try as MAX might to delay the inevitable, he is fated to fall on this somber day. Can you defy fate, draw out the villainous fiend that commands the undead hordes, and defeat them once and for all? Probably not but we'll be really impressed if you do!

We hope you enjoy our game! It's heavily influenced by Vampire Survivors, but we wanted to put our own twist on the gameplay! We're looking forward to reading your reviews and seeing your high scores!

This was probably one of the smoothest Jams our team has done. As time goes on we've gotten pretty good at reigning our scope in. All in all, this has been a great Ludum Dare for all of us, and we hope you enjoy our game!

Let us know what your high score is!

Controls - W, S, A, D: Move - Weapons fire automatically.

I love how you can move around the planet, upgrades help the player stay interested and its fun to get used to the firing cooldown, nice!

Made it to almost 3 minutes! enjoyed that. Did feel like the skeletons were able to hit my unfairly sometimes though.

Music is excellent, Core gameplay loop is a treat, graphics are crisp found the motion blur a little jarring at times, However I found the movement to be a little finicky, I would have also liked to possibly have the ability to fire independently. Overall great game.

The music is great. I'm not a fan of the automatic firing, but the gameplay in general is pretty fun.

It's a great experience to move around the moon. The balance between escape and attack does well. And nice vfx!

Always a big fan of horde shooters with randomized upgrades/weapons. Great work!

It was fun. With some more polishing on the graphics and some optimizations it could be quite good full game. I liked kiting the enemies and trying to time the automatic shot to hit the big horde of enemies behind me. Good job! :)

so it's Vampire Survivors on the moon. pretty nice - i like how strange it feels to move around on a sphere, and the upgrades add a lot of replayability. i think you guys did a good job packaging up a formula known to work, and it fits the theme well.

It's pretty fun to blast hordes in the back all around the moon and don't get overwhelmed at the same time. Upgrades keep it interesting till the end. The only problem i found was audio lagging closer to the end of time, maybe something to do with optimization and number of spawned enemies. Good job!

Waiting for a rocket to circumnavigate the moon to hit a skeleton. Perfection.

At first I was annoyed when my weapon kept firing in the wrong direction, but then when I saw the missile come back around and hit something in the back? Couldn't help but smile!

Amazing idea, I like it! I was surprised to see that rockets are flying around the planet, this is an extremely interesting mechanic! Maybe I would like to have other active features, like space to jump or something.
Thanks for making this game!

Well, it took me 2 games before understanding how to deal with the ennemies and then, I really played the game as I should. And it was so amazing, damn, running around, avoiding enemies while trying to get all those shiny green collectibles. Improving my stuff to fire a tons of bullets but still declining while the waves of ennemies become stronger and stronger until I take the final blow.
Excellent work, i really enjoyed playing this!

The game is fun. Especially, as many have already said, the mechanics of projectiles flying around the planet.

Woah, great game! It was really fun and challenging, I really liked it. At first I didn't know how shooting worked, and it took some time to get the hang of things, but after that it was great. Graphics were nice, and audio gave the game more life, and that's good. Overall, really nice entry, so congratulations!

Great twist on this type of game, globe physics are fun to see play out. The theme ending was surprising and good fun. Well done!
