Neon City by Sozey

Can you delay the inevitable demise of Neon City until the civilians have been rescued?
In this game you will face off against the unrelenting drones trying to destroy the city and kill all of its inhabitants, meanwhile rescue helicopters are working hard to save them in time.
Your tank is much stronger than them, but how long will you be able to withstand the attacks from 10, 30, 50 drones at once?
Thank you for playing and good luck, but remember you can not save the city, you are merely delaying the inevitable.

Good use of emissive materials but enemies spawning anywhere north are almost impossible to hit (even when you can see them with the see-through-outline-shader).
Not sure about the tank-controls, I'd go for twin-stick-shooter controls, "A" is always left, "W" always up (in screen space).
VFX & graphics are good ^^
Music is beautiful
From gameplay perspective the game is feels finished, but shooting enemies is good and all, but why I can't run over them?
@atomicptr Thank you! It might be too fun, I've seen a few people play it and take down the buildings for fun haha
@gamedevalexandr Thanks for playing! The boost is supposed to be bound to left shift, although it was my first time using the new Unity input system so I'm not sure how well it handles different keyboard layouts for example
@thomas-higgins Thanks a bunch! I agree about the game becoming repetitive fast and feeling like you can't really do much past a certain point, see note at the bottom.
@vilmantas Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the UI idea, I'm kind of proud of it haha.
@leorid I should have known destroying the buildings was too tempting when I spent most of my playtesting on Saturday collapsing the entire block x) I probably should have made the bullets visible through the buildings too, to help adjusting your shots. Completely agree about the controls, they take a bit of getting used to!
@james-7777 Thank you! Yeah the controls aren't ideal, Leorid above had a good idea on how to fix it, I'll probably give it a try later this week
@gummibot Thank you, and I'm glad you liked this ~~bug~~ feature
@yellowkamel Thank you so much for playing it on stream, that was a great morning!
@crishnate Perhaps if you join the bots they'll spare you, worth a try! I really like the idea of adding ramming damage, that would make the boost more fun and it would be easier to deal with groups of enemies!
And I completely I agree about the core gameplay loop quickly becoming repetitive, I planned on adding power ups (mortar, dash, mines, shotgun shells, etc) but I couldn't delay the inevitable deadline
Really enjoyed visuals and effects of destroyed buildings. The outline for things hidden for camera is also a very nice and surprising touch for a compo game! Nice job!
Thanks for coming to my stream! Here's a recording in case you'd like to refer to it: https://youtu.be/1s0mnrLO_ak
This game feels little bit creepy for me to be honest, maybe because i'm in Ukraine
I only have three pieces of criticism to levy against this as is:
- the aliens sound like happy flower friends and not at all scary
- it is possible to boost out of the map
- I wanted to run those puny little aliens over in my impressive battle machine
Things that would have been super cool:
- explosive shells for big bad boom!
- running over the aliens
- a faster turning turret
- napalm
Thoroughly enjoyed this entry! :)
