50 Second Apocalypse by superpokeunicorn

Hello, I am SuperPokeunicorn, and this is my 18th Ludum Dare. I've been participating in Ludum Dare since before I started high school, and now I'm a college senior. To celebrate Ludum Dare's 20th anniversary, I decided to remake my first ever Ludum Dare game, which was also my first ever video game. Although it's no longer available to download since my DropBox got deleted, you can still see the original game's submission page in the wayback machine here: http://web.archive.org/web/20201128165033/http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-27/?action=preview&uid=9858

In 50 Second Apocalypse, the world is going to end in just 50 seconds. You don't have the power to save it, but you can delay the inevitable. Collect 3 time crystals to rewind time by 20 seconds. Careful! You'll have to get past the zombie hordes, and you only have 6 shots. Fortunately, time travel can help you get those bullets back, but it won't give you back any health you lost. See how long you can survive and how many zombies you can kill before you meet the inevitable!

STyle and mechanics are masterpiece
Liked everything, if it would be not game for compo, I want more levels and guns and upgrades hahaha
Btw it is game for compo, so you made really great job!
- Loved how the shooting felt
- great blood effects ;)
- the mechanic was pretty cool, I would have loved to have seen this utilised more in the game.
Great job :)
* seemed to really buy into it's own arcade-y loop, was focused.
* simple evocative art and sound effects
* nice feeling movement (I kind of wanted it a little faster paced / more frantic feeling, but that's a nitpick)
* visual indicators for the crystals appearing that are visible from most locations, clearly readable game in general
* I liked how the gameplay naturally shifts to more running and avoidance as you run low on ammo and rely more heavily on finding the next crystal
I loved the go back effect, the pixel art and the music.
Also I see that you made it with Monodevelop which from my point of view makes it even more impressive even though Ludum Dare doesn't rate people on the tech choice I know that it has been even more difficult to develop and I appreciate that :)
Thanks for this entry, very enjoyable :)
Also, it would be nice to get online leaderboards, but I understand why it wouldn't make it in the Compo scope. ^^' It would be nice to have some more spectacular apocalypse (at least screen gradually turning white or something with some noise and maybe screenshake), so I can tell I died from the apocalypse and not from a zombie. On the other hand, the time rewind mechanic was very satisfying to watch. ^^
The game kept me engaged until I reached the apocalypse while still trying to get as much score as possible - I eventually ended up getting the score of 125. Well done! ^^

The game is quite fun and interesting. I would love to have more levels !
Great job !
The gameplay is really innovative and it was a lot of fun to play! It's great that when you die, the time turns back and you start from the beginning. Not only does it look nice it also encourages to keep playing another round :D
Overall very good. Thanks for your entry!
