You are the Monster(creator)! by Darkflint

[raw]
made by Darkflint for LD33 (JAM)
Hi guys,

well, my first LudumDare and i even managed to create...something.
The original plan was a monster creator tool like back in Spore, with an 3d animates, formable basis body, serveral body parts to add and such nice things. But i realized pretty soon that that was way too much for me. For my defense: i am still a junior web developer and had no prior canvas experience. Furthermore i only decided to join the LD few hours before the jam began. And (you can never have enough excuses) i couldn´t do much in sunday plus today was a normal working day. :P
Back to the start:
Well, that´s my entry on my first LurumDare. You can draw an monster on a canvas, safe it on local disk or send it to the server so it can be displayed in the gallery, together with the creation of other artist. I made the start with an really, really, reeeaaallly amazing monster *cough*.

And at last i want to thank AtomicVikings for giving me a push for joining the LD.

IMPORTANT: saving the image to local disc isn´t working in Internet Explorer!

PS: You should use the weblink, the page is bigger than the 600px height of the iframe.

Funny to play this. Controls are sometimes a bit hard. Really cool idea. :-)

well done on storeing the files in a galary, i like that i can see what other people have created. though as atomicvikings said, the controls are indeed a bit hard, it would be nice if you could see the current line or rect you are creating. keep up the good work

Yeah, i know, controls aren´t perfect. Afterward i asked myself, why i did it that way and not the other way around. But now it´s to late for it.
But i am really glad i did the gallery, i like to see the images of the other people too!

The gallery is a good idea, my monster is not really nice but he's cool ^^
It would have been nice when we click on an option that its button become red or blue or something, just to know where we have clicked before.
But that's funny anyway.

Interesting idea, great work with actually storing the monsters, actually drawing though is a little wonky. I didn't manage to make something, but the idea of making your own monster like in spore is great! You should maybe try learning some simple 2d physics libraries or something and some fun! (Becuase I really quite like that idea, and might experiment for fun on my own!)

Anyways, your *ahem* thingy/game could've be better with better controls, and maybe a polygon shape type, for drawing triangles and such

I did not expecting something like that on this game jam! For the circle, you should add the possibility to draw one from 3 points. It might be easier to use

Not much of a game per se but I like your take on the theme.

Great take on the theme. It was fun creating and uploading my monster. Instead of generic drawing tools, I wanted tools more specific to creating a monster (evil eyes, slime, wolf hair, teeth, toes, etc.)

Hmm not too sure what to think about this.
I like the idea and the gallery
but the controls are kinda hard
but after looking into the source I think it's a good entry!

A pretty weird entry but it's kinda cool nonetheless. I have an affection for these community-driven arty non-games and I like that you did it in 72 hours.

Me and my friend actually made something mildly similar a few ludums back about rube goldberg machines.
