Invasion of the Inevitable Space Rocks from Outerspace by Mekuri
General Info
This is our first Ludum Dare submission (As a team (of two)), and we're quite happy with the result. We do hope that you'll enjoy our game- We had fun doing it, and are happy that we ended up with a game that can be considered finished (Not considering the cut features).
Although we made some sound effects, as well as the Voice Over, ourselves, we decided to opt out of the Audio category. We did use a good amount of sound effects from freesound.org, and felt it would be unfair (and probably in violation of the rules) to opt into that category.
Cut features
We had more features on our list that we would've loved to put in, but we decided to go for a more finished game, rather than jam in additional features. These features include, but not limited to, Power consumption for weapons, purchasable upgrades that carry between plays, weapon loadout customization, and more weapon types.
About the Game
In Invasion of the Inevitable Spacerocks from Outerspace you play as the last defender of a weirdly scaled planet and must defend it, for as long as you can against an infinite swarm of space rocks.
To play, you use either wasd or the arrows, to throttle and turn your ship. Rotation and weapon firing are handle with the mouse, and the two primary buttons.
Please note
During testing, we've encountered mouse sensitivity issues in the web client, but not consistently- If you experience issues, please let us know. - Also note that you can reduce sensitivity in the options menu.
Enjoy, and have fun!!

cons: the control scheme was very difficult to wrap my head around, it was very difficult to see where asteroids were coming from since I didn't have much of a view of the space around the planet.
Other than this, I really loved the graphics and the atmosphere of space. It felt truly like a fully flashed game. And the voice acting was pretty cool :)
Impressive game to put together with only two people. 3d can be unwieldy to work with, especially when you're delivering to a web platform. On the subject of mouse sensitivity, I found the controls a little hard to get used to, but that's also kinda the charm of a space game isn't it? Maybe I'm biased, as I too made a game where you control a spaceship, though mine is 2d pixel art.
As for ways you could improve this game, if you continue updating the sky is probably the limit. You seem to have a lot of really good groundwork done, you could probably add a lot of cool features on top of this and make something really impressive. Overall, I really liked this game, I had a lot of fun and I think it's very ambitious for a jam game.
Alla in all - An awesome little gem!
Controls could probably be reworked a little, was a little overly sensitive for me by default using a mouse & webgl on osx.
I love the voice acting.
Thanks for the mention about turning down the sensitivity, I did that and it was way easier to control. I would have also like the option to turn off invert controls.
Really great intro, got me hyped right from the start and then I blasted those asteroids, until I crashed into earth lol.
Thanks for the submission!
Voice overs were fun to add a little personality - I think you have some funny people (person maybe?) and you should let that shine through more!
Great overall product
Despite those problems, I'd say this entry is still pretty good. I seem to find 3D entries more attractive in general; probably because of the sheer *immersion.* Great job from the both of you!
