My happy weedy farm by Marin0104
Hello little farmer!
This game is about the never ending fight against weed. Crops can't grow if there is weed on their patch.
So make sure to prepare the ground, plant the seed, water it and keep an eye on the weed!
If there is too less water or too much weed on the patch, crops won't grow and the patch will eventually disappear. It will happen in the future, but you can delay it as much as you can!
Try to keep always an eye on the orders to deliver the fruits needed. Otherwise you will run out of seeds soon, as it is not guaranteed that you get a seed from harvesting crops. If you run out of seeds, you loose.
Deliver your hard earned crops at the chest and get new seeds to fullfill the next orders!

Nice to have a clear objective as well.
THOSE WEEDS GROW SO FAST THO!
Can I remove the weed while a plant is growing though? I would have expected that
So aside from those two issues I enjoyed my time with the game. Good job!
As much as I love the graphics, I agree with @0x-void-x0 avoid the graphics vote, though (and any other categories that may not apply).
The gameplay itself could have used some work, but that's my only issue.
It was super frustrating trying to weed something and just watering a spot that didn't need water, so having different buttons for weed, water and plant could have been a big improvement for me.
Also I'm not sure if it's a bug but I found I stopped moving randomly and this made me so sad cause I was enjoying it so much. ;-; If it's supposed to happen, an end scene would be nice. I just ended up staring at myself for a couple minutes wondering if that's the end game or not.
If this was made less hectic (less, inevitable) and mobile friendly I could see it becoming the most addictive mobile game the universe has ever seen. Or, with a bit of story, an adorable Steam game that would warm the heart.
Thank you for making this!
@reronin, @linnet5, @otterfaelure i will have a look into that bug! Thanks for noticing, i hope it is not against the rules to upload a fix later.
@joscco you can only remove the weed, if the plant is not growing anymore because of too much weed. I thought it would help the player to focus on other, more important stuff. But i agree, in the beginning it might be a thing that the player might want to do!
@linnet5 yeah i struggled with figuring out how to determine the next selected grid. I know that other games use the mouse for that, but as i think that game can work out as a couch co-op or versus game, i need some controls that fits the input devices. If motivation and time is there, i consider to build something like Overcooked from it.
@0x-void-x0, @csdoescs yeah you guys are right. The big majority of art is from that asset pack, although i had to adjust some stuff . I am going to deactivate the graphics category!
@marc-grabow thank's! I am going to have a look at yours today!
@anaxie-studio actually i implemented seperate buttons for each action! But during playtesting i figured, it might be just too challenging and confusing. Then i switched over to an inventory style system like Stardew Valley or Core Hunter. I noticed that i had to switch my tools way too often and it wasn't that pleasant. Then i implemented this priority based solution. Some years ago, i have implemented way to complicated controls and thought that i need to scale them down to the bare minimum, as you guys might play this game just for a couple of minutes. If i work on this project in the future, i will consider your feedback for sure!
@fruit-du-dragbane hehe, would a little tutorial help you? Otherwhise have a look at the gif on top, hope it helps a little
@andrey-zhukov i feel honored, thank you! I am going to play and rate your's as well today.
@otterfaelure There is only a game over screen  I am really sorry for that bug. It just didn't happen during my playtesting sessions... I hope i can reproduce it soon! I will consider your feedback if i will work further on this project. It may works as well, but the scope can't be as sth like Stardew Valley  So i think it can be like couch co-op with story (like overcooked) or it is something like a farm builder game, but way more active with buying gadgets that helps you farming. I think that can work out as well. Thank's for your detailed feedback!
I'm now picturing dashing to the workbench to try and get some weed killer to buy me a minute to "drag" the harvest to the bin, oh my gosh.
Love the way your brain works! Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff!
I would love to see a bigger version of this game, with more things to do ( and possibly different keybinds for planting/watering ), kinda like a 16-bit top down version of Hay Day; It would probably be one of these games that i spend days just because they're incredibly pleasing to the mind and the eyes
A few things that bugged me
The place where your action takes place is very hard to aim. Maybe have it be aimable using a mouse or determine the direction of the action with arrow keys.
The indicator images that show that your crop is ready can block the crop 1 tile above them, making for a visual mess.
Other than that, good job!
I had a little bug on my first play, I was digging and I moved at the same time and my character just couldn’t move at all after that. I had to restart the game. But anyway, I had a great time!
Good job!
@otterfaelure exactly! :smile:
@yello the inevitable is that the weed is taking over your farm. And this will happen as the time it takes to produce weed decreases during the game.
@amberfall92 alright, so what i get from your feedback is that the automation of the next action was confusing you? I'd like to turn this into a couch co-op/vs game, but the controls needs to fit the input devices (keyboard or gamepad), but i didn't come up with a really great solution yet...
@valentines yes a score counter is missing. Totally forgot this to add last minute  Thank you for noticing!
@bangthewall about the block of the crop above, yes and it sometimes blends in with the action above the players head. There is room for improvement, i am going to add this on my board for future me. Thank's for your feedback!
@heiach does the gif on top helps you? Should i provide another one about the deliver process?
@phillip-scott it's made with Godot, so it is possible - or i will add some mobile friendly controls to the web build. I add it on my dev board
@jamesolivermusic i think i need to add a little tutorial level in the beginning, to teach the core mechanics. Thank's for your feedback!
Loved the theme (gardening!), loved the artstyle. A bit too easy, so I had to try really hard to see the lose screen :D
@whirlguy the music was a choice of a library i bought some weeks ago, but the sound effects were done all by myself. It took me a couple of hours to find the sweet spot of everything.
The only downside of this, is that during my session I was "farming" on max 5 spot at the same time so you kinda stay at the same place all the time (except when you go deliver) but that's ok. You did a really good job given the time of that game jam ! Keep it up !
(if you can try and rate my game it would be wonderful, we are looking for some ratings and comment  )
The abbiance and atmosphere are very cool. I would have loved to be able to unlock upgrades to delay the weeds from growing for example
