engineer500.png

You are head engineer on a doomed starship. As power runs low, you must find a way to ration your resources to give yourself as long as possible. See how long you can hold out, balancing the needs of yourself and your crew against the straining power reserves. Playable with keyboard or controller. lineup.gif Notes: WASD or arrow keys to move, you can also use your controller, Spacebar to interact.

Some doors are hard to see. If you're unable to move to another room, the door may be closed and need to be interacted with to be opened out of your way.

Hey! The game freezes at the title screen!

The "pixel art in 3D" artstyle is very charming, I love the graphics! The doors are a bit finicky to open, though, and you do walk a bit too slow for the game to convey urgency. (Unless I missed a sprint hotkey?)

The 2.5D art is really neat, but I think for a game like this you should probably speed everything up and have alarms or something? For a failing spaceship, I didn't really feel panicked.

Cool game! It was a little glitchy, but I liked it. The blending of 2D and 3D is interesting and I think could look even better with some lighting. I do think that a sense of urgency could be conveyed better, but all in all, great job!

I enabled/disabled oxygen and the heat shield, but other than that mostly let the timer run out in 3:44. Really wondering what the rest of those crew members are doing, I'd expect them to panic or at least help out a little bit with the rationing/repairs, but they seem to have completely accepted their fate :-\

@dining-philosopher We had plans to let them help you out but they were just too lazy for us to get them motivated, so they unfortunately just became set pieces. Thank you for the play though!

@tulio Thank you for the feedback, we had a sort order bug on the main menu that we've fixed, If you're still interested in trying everything should work fine now!

Intense game! I've survived for 4 minutes, when the power runs out the systems will not keep going.. which of course.. means we die
The artwork is 10/10, i think there could things be more to be done, however this is a great game.
Good job! :v:

i like the HD 3D / pixel 2D blend of graphics. it seems like for a lot of the repairs, i needed to interact with the display board, instead of the actual machine next to it, which was pretty unintuitive to me.

also, it seemed like i just had to mash spacebar until it went up a decent amount, but when i was doing that for oxygen, it went up to like 30%, then just stopped, and eventually went back down even though i was pressing space bar. i was hearing the little "interaction blip" sound, so i'm not sure what was happening there.

i think more clear indication of where to interact, and the success of interacting would be good. the green light and soft "blip" sound are kind of underwhelming, since pressing interact is the core gameplay. and i think it would feel more interesting and realistic to interact with the machines, not the message boards.

and this is just a nitpick, but having the closed doors seemed like a rather arbitrary impedance to moving about.

Cool game!! I LOVED the graphics. It took me a while to get the hang of it and learn how to refill oxygen and the heat shield etc. But I couldn't figure out how to regenerate power? Still, entertaining and liked it.

nice work with the blending of 3D and 2D graphics :)

I took a while to understand how to refill oxygen and heat sheilds. I survived about 4 minutes on second attempt.

Like the idea of balancing between the heat shield and oxygen while trying to save power and fix breakers.

I think there's a great foundation here. I love the presentation. The pixel art for the characters was great and the graphics for the ship were good too. I might have missed something, but I didn't lose/die when power ran out. It left me a bit confused but I'm assuming it was just a bug. Overall, great job on your entry!

@teammonumental we figured running out of power wouldn't be how you died in real life, but we ran out of time before implementing an end of the game, if you let either your oxygen or heat shield run out you'll die

Can't say I've played a game that looks like this, good job!
