Caterpillar is a weird thing I made: why Caterpillar exists.

How to play

The title screen explains the controls. Things that can be interacted with have exclamation points floating next to them, and the exclamation point next to a character disappears when you have finished their quest (though you can still talk to them).

You will know you have done everything there is to do when the end button shows.

A weird thing for sure LOL. Had me engaged for a while even though the graphics were intense contrasty. Very interesting game and good submission!

A nice game.. had some fun. Maybe you could add some more content besides the bring and fetch quests. Also the colors took some effort to get used to :P.

Well that was an ending I didn't see coming. And slug was really asking the philosophical questions too

Super weird game, and the art is very unique. It's actually a very cool thing that you used pictures of your garden for it!

Super different and just fascinating. Visually intense and unabashedly weird. I am here for it! I would love to see more of the garden, and meet more characters.

I am *here* for the psychedelic images. It helped make the mood of this game feel unique and surreal. Absolutely loved it.

I did run into difficulty with the game play where my encounters wouldn't end, and I'd be in a bit of a loop interacting with others. I played the web version, maybe that was the issue? Not that it stopped me from playing, though. Slug needs their crouton, after all.

You chose a pretty bold art direction, which I can appreciate, even if it didn't exactly make things easier to see. That said, the game is more an experience and a vibe, and not much of a challenge in any other way so it didn't really hurt things.

Bright and psychedelic, and a little story to the fetch quests. Simple stuff, but I enjoyed it!

Well that was quite trippy :D It's probably the odd combination of the psychedelic graphics, the seemingly stream-of-consciousness writing and the surreal ending. The sound has some low rumbling issues (very irritating on headphones), could be fixed with a high pass filter. The exclamation marks were hard to see sometimes, perhaps they needed some animated glow/shadow to draw more attention.

Thanks for the tip @flogames.
The background audio is a recording of my outdoor garden, and I was worried it would have noise issues.
I tried cleaning it up but my audio editing skills are severely lacking, so any tips are greatly appreciated.
