Playing the Game

Eldritch Crossing is a first-person game that you can play either with Keyboard & Mouse or using a Gamepad.

  • Move: WASD or Left Thumbstick
  • Look: Mouse or Right Thumbstick
  • Crouch (Hold): Shift or Trigger
  • Crouch (Toggle): C (Keyboard) or B (Gamepad)

Point your holy symbol at a rune to banish it. Keep an eye on your health bar! Allowing a rune to manifest will drain your health, but successfully banishing a rune will replenish it.

Really really good job on the graphics and sounds (idk if you made the sounds but they're really good choices at least!)
The gameplay loop works really well with the theme. Only complaint I have is that it got a little repetitive after a while, and I felt like could've gone on for a lot longer if I didn't get a bit bored after 6 minutes. Maybe some more variation with other enemy types to avoid would've been cool to see!
Good work on the game!

I survived 2:56 minutes! The gameplay is very challenging, and I really like the sound effects and graphics! There is a very oppressive atmosphere while playing, I'm really positively surprised!

You really pulled off this style, great job! The sound was also very good.

There's not that much in the game but what there is was very well done :D

The blobs were kind of a weird enemy choice but I get that designing enemies takes a long time for a game jam...

The atmosphere is super cool! I like the little details like the crosshair or the exorcist sound that changes pitch. The gameplay gets a little repetitive though.

Super super polished game!
The gameplay was a little simple, essentially just walking from point to point in a room, but it still kept me entertained for a good while due to how polished and nice it felt to play.

Fun little horror arcade game :) good entry

What a great atmosphere! I loved the game when I saw the gif and wasn't a bit disappointed after playing it! All the way I kept wondering if changing pitch of an "aaaaaah" you get after banishing the rune means something and you can reach some kind of mega combo and maybe win that way. :D (my score was 6:05)

By the way, we've made a first person game in a somewhat similar dark medieval setting, but that's a parkour game. You can [check it out here](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/light-fingered) if you want!

Really fitting creepy atmosphere & music, I like the idea of using a holy cross  It got quite foggy after some time when there were many eldritch orbs, so maybe a way to also banish them somehow?

A really well made game. I'm not great with anything that are slightly scary, but I still had a great time playing. The visual is especially amazing.

Very well done. Atomosphere, graphics, audio design, all on point. Getting a symbol right before it 'pops' is suuper satisfying. Fits the theme very well.

Really solid game, loved the graphics, controls felt great. Little repetitive after a bit but its game jam so that's expected.

I feel like this game achieved what it set out to do very successfully. The floating blobs were an interesting twist on the otherwise simple flow!

Love the graphics, the gameplay is fun, but gets old rather fast.... Very good for the time limit though, kudos!

Extremely well done. The style, quality of graphics, responsive controls, and the audio. Would suggest putting in the ability to invert X/Y axis to accommodate us with "goofy stance"

@lpettler The jam version already allows inverting the Y-Axis (in the Controls Menu). Adding an additional toggle for the X-Axis wouldn't be a problem though. Do you just need them inverted, or do you mean swapping X for Y?

This game builds a brilliant, creepy atmosphere! Lovely graphics style! The mechanics get stressful pretty fast, maybe a lower difficulty curve, with a few more gameplay mechanics would've kept me engaged longer!

Really nice job on the graphics. I was impressed that the metal frame of the window had it's own reflections separate from the glass. looks really good. And it's pretty fun too! Great work!

I really enjoyed the feel of the game. I would love what it could be with some other mechanics!

I delayed my end by 2:15 Minutes.
I wonder why you made this 4:3 aspect ratio..
The sound design is very good here! What a treat!
The visuals do the job, but this game just screams for a bit of context. Just enough to keep it, and make it even scarier than it is.
Good job! :)

Polished game with a great mood. Graphics and sounds made an eerie atmosphere. Even when I didn't read the instructions, I quickly found out the mechanics.

I played for a long while, but sadly my play session stopped abruptly when I crouched and pulled back accidentally doing some browser command (maybe shift+d or shift+s?) and the game page went away
