Yet Another Tron by Paul-Maxime

[raw]
made by Paul-Maxime for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

tron-multiplayer.png

Context: I didn't have time to participate the weekend, so I made a game in a few hours monday evening.

It's basically Tron, but multiplayer! Send the link to other people and play with them!

The goal is to expand your line without ever crossing your own line or another player's line.

Move using the arrow keys, WASD or your gamepad.

Try to survive as long as possible, try to delay the inevitable.

Played with some buddies, netcode is snappy and responsive. Love Tron!

While the concept has been done before, the game is still fun, and I don't think I've ever seen a multiplayer game jam submission before. Tron actually fits the theme surprisingly well, with your own past movements getting in your way and having to deal with other players as well as avoid your inevitable failure.

Very fun!! I played with random strangers and still felt like we were talking and teasing each other.

Well... Its Tron.
Missing stuff like scores, but it plays well.
Great job implementing a functional multiplayer game in such a short time.

The core gameplay is still fun and the fact that you managed to implement multiplayer in such short time is nothing but impressive.
I feel like the base idea could be expanded upon, maybe something like dash, pushing you further ahead, but disabling ability to turn for a brief time could bring some depth to gameplay.
But I understand you had only a few hours to participate, so, maybe it's a suggestion if you ever want to update the game.

It's really impressive that you managed to get multiplayer working. I sadly had no one to play with, so I just ran around on my own. If you continue to work on it, definitely add some AI for single player. Good job.

Well, it's indeed a Tron and multiplayer. I was curious and had a look at the code (I'm considering Godot these days) and it's simple enough to grasp.

You could certainly expand it if you wanted! It works nicely :)

Massively impressive for a game made in an even more strict due time.
