The Manbutton Project by AndideBob

[raw]
made by AndideBob for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

The Manhattan Project was a research and development undertaking during World War II that produced the first nuclear weapons.

This has nothing to do with the game, we just thought it is a weird coincidence how both sound similar.

And there's nukes. That you set off. Ooooh you better make sure they don't go kablowy, otherwise you'll be in big trouble.

I'm talking overtime to clean up the mess that'd make. So you better call the support and get this fixed before lunch break. screenshot00.png

Known Bugs:

-Certain Keyboards do not register all key-presses, if the keys are all in a certain group

-The sound cuts out in the web version (So please play the Download version if you can)

Code - @AndideBob

Art - @ToastiChron

Music by Andrew Sitkov (Note that the music was not made by us for the jam, however there is other Audio which was made by us, so please rate on that)

I like it a lot, real finger twister ! The overall Art and Music adds a nice surreal touch to the game, well done.

very very fun!!! this game is highly replayable and quirky (if you use laptop you might have a bad time but it works very well in concept) i would say this is easily a top 10 game in my book

The idea is simple, but the game ended up being way more fun that I expected. Those mechanics are really nice and keep you hooked! The game is very polished overall and looks great, congratulations!

Really creative and polished game! :D The key color feedback for what to hold and let go worked really well and the score board gave it a lot of replay value. :)

This was a very nice game, it felt like Twister for your fingers, because different from other typing games it's not so much about raw writing but, but about figuring out a way under time pressure how to press awkward key combinations.

Good job!

The game looks and sounds fantastic.
The art style, music, voice over. Everything is so great and polished and that in this little amount of time.
It was finger twisting and mind bending. Holding down the wrong keys, because I think I'm holding the right one but it's one beside. Fun.
I encountered the know issues with the keyboard, but it wasn't a huge issue.
If it helps, I was using the German (Qwertz) Layout on a M1 MacBook Air.
But it really wasn't a huge deal and didn't bother much.
It also doesn't fall under consideration for the ratings, I just pretend everything worked fine.
I mean, it did for the most part so yeah.
Good game

Really interesting concept and very fun!
For some reason some buttons weren't accepted, as if it's some responsive problem.. I don't know if it just me.
Great idea and game overall, simple but on point! Nice!

That was really fun! Tried beating the highest scores a few times but other people seem to be way better.
This might also be fun with 2 people to press the keys

Gameplay:
The fact that i'm able to chose my keyboard layout is really helpful.
I am really really bad at this game. Really bad. So bad!

Felt like playing twister with my hands on my keyboard and got totally confused after a few seconds!
It has kind of a fun element to it though!

Although the highscore system do add a layer of replayability i'll not try it again to be honest, as i was just really bad. Sorry.

Graphics:
The artstyle made me feel like a nuclear bomb commander in the 1970s who is desperately trying not to launch the nukes!
That's a huge plus!

Audio:
The music and the voice on the telephone really added to my frustration while failing to press the correct buttons. That is a plus! I just felt totally overwhelmed playing this game.

This is really fun haha, I agree with others, definitely felt like twister for my fingers! Perhaps would make for some interesting online co-op gameplay as well?

Loved the artstyle and the voice acting, it really added to the experience, and the music is great.

I like that you have configiurations for different keyboard layouts, that's a nice touch.

Good job!

The mechanics are great similar to GIRP. Playing on stream, as you already knew the keyboard, could not always press al the keys at the same time but it is still a novel idea and solid entry overall.

I really liked the tension the game generates, at some points I thought more time had passed than it actually did ("this time I'll enter the leaderboard for sure..." "wait, what do you mean my time was only 1:08 !?")

Saw this being played on stream. I really wanna play and try and get the high score, but seems the key press bug is affecting me with almost every combination of keys. I'll hold off rating and come back and see if you've fixed this soon :)

I was one of the unfortunate few that couldn't play because of the multiple key issue, but this was very well done and I didn't hold my crappy keyboard against you in the ratings xD I just wish I could have enjoyed the game to the fullest extent!
