Vampire Run by Turquoise Moon

[raw]
made by Turquoise Moon for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

You are a vampire trying to outrun the sun for as long as possible. Unfortunately for you, all it does is delay the inevitable.

For controls you can use arrow keys or wasd. Use left and right to move left and right, up to jump and down to switch between bat and human form. Be careful though, as you cannot jump while you are a bat.

Post a screenshot of your score in the comments and I will add you to the leader board! My high score is 68.

It takes to me some time to get the feeling of the game, but when it comes, i really enjoyed the pressure of have to get away of the sun, and the game kind of punish you if you lost the tear of blood what it's very nice

Great game and concept for this jam! Would love if you could transform back into "human" using W or up arrow.

Simple and well executed. The song is really good too. I too wish the jump were also the toggle between forms. Also, the motion was super fast and started to make me motion sick. The whole rotation thing could probably be slowed down a bit to alleviate that issue. Otherwise, nice job.

Nice game. Loved the music. Having the planet be small was a fun touch.

Pretty cool game, I like the minimap that shows you where the sun is

This is pretty fun for a game of its simplicity. I think the random placement of the speed boosters is my favorite of the features, as it adds another layer of anticipation. Good job.

Nice take on the runner genre. For some reason, in the main menu, music is only on the left channel. It is also possible to go through walls if you switch your form repeatedly (not that it helps though). An alright game overall.

My best score is 45

I like this game. It's quite fun. Although sometimes I felt like the sun was a bit unfair as it's a lot faster than the player. The switch from bat to human and then jumping also felt quite clunky, otherwise it's a really nice game with clean graphics and straight forward gameplay.

@batkoi I was wondering if anyone would notice the music issue. I have no idea what caused it. Thanks for playing!

I just got done playing a game where you need to outrun the darkness and now I'm outrunning the light!

Really fun, simple endless runner. My high score was 36.

Thank you for sharing!

That backing track is a banger! This is such a simple idea with a few mechanics and it works really well. Took me a sec to get a feel for it, but it was worth it. One tiny tweak that I think could make this *really* good: if the player is playing perfectly, the sun should get no closer. Then every mistake is essentially an attrition that "delays the inevitable" and is perhaps not recoverable. Or perhaps is recoverable when you get the blood droplets, and then you could just build up the difficulty over time? Either way, this is a solid foundation for something more interesting if you were to continue to work on it! Good job.
