MECHANICS

Eliminate all the villagers. As a vampire, you take damage from sunlight over time. You gain health by drinking the blood of regular villagers, and mana by drinking the blood of mage villagers. To drink blood, grapple villagers with your claw. Using your guns cost mana, so remember to drink the blood of mages as well.

DAYBREAK

You are a vampire, the last of your kind. Try to survive the sunlight of daybreak as you battle through a mob of angry villagers. You know you are just delaying the inevitable, but that does not stop you from taking the villagers down with you.

It works great! I love the balance and game mechanics, you even can grapple to the tombstone (though sometimes it blocks you from sucking blood from people). Polished and finished game, good job in this submission! Have a good luck with new games!

Your game looks fantastic and it's a really neat idea that fits in well with the theme. I would have liked some kind of score or timer to measure my progress between runs and I also found that I never switched off of the revolver because there was never really a need to use the other guns as they limited the resources I could drain from people. Really excited to see if you expand upon this game.

I agree with @maratg2 The game just looks like a finished game and the mechanics are really original :)

I had a good time with this once I got the hang of drinking more often. I thought the opening was great! I had a hard time determining which resource I would get from I target to drink, unless it's random. Good sound effects!

This was awesome! The gameplay is smooth, I love the grab/bite mechanic, and it's very fun to play. Can't wait to see what you make next year!

@tigerj You get ammo from the villagers with wizard hats, health from others. We tried to clue the player in on it with the blue puddle, but the particles we couldn't get done on the actual drinking would've also helped.

A really great looking, sounding and overall fun to play game. The humor is on point. The game is a little hard for my taste. But still. Really really well done

@wilko The game tracks the highest amount of waves you have cleared, but true, the value of current run in-game and value of last run on the menu would be great.

This is such a good game! Honestly feels so well formed already, even more impressively so given the constraints of the jam's time limit. I loved the mix of bullet hell with resource management, and the interplay created with the grappling hook, enemies, and tombstones. Just overall solid, I even downloaded it to play again later.

Great game, really a nice mixup from a regular shoot em up and man is it difficult not just dodging bullets but also keeping health and mana up.

@wilko Just realized the scales improperly, so the score is not visible on the web build unless fullscreen.

Simple, and complete. I love it!
I've noticed a lot of jam games get bogged down by complexity, so having such a simple quick to pick up shooter was GREAT!

I think it'd benefit from having more room to move around, but overall it was a joy. I especially enjoyed the grapple hand mechanic and its versatility, I feel it has a lot of potential

Fun arena shooter! Loved the grappling hook mechanics. There should be more games where you play as a vampire. The graphics and sound were solid, and everything worked well. My only minor constructive criticism would be similar to what other people said and you already know--a little UX work on illustrating to the player how the different player resources work would go a long way. Regardless, this was a lot of fun.

This is a hard game! Awesome concept being a vampire dealing with 2 currencies!
the first time playing it I didnt understand well how to manage my blood/mana pool, but in the third time (focusing on understanding it) i manage it well (but i'm horrible hahaha).
It was a blast when i accidentally grapped myself when i hitted the tomb. Awesome game!
Nice visuals, nice concept, and well polished! Nice entry! Congratulations :) :)

Really good game! I love the sound effects, especially the blood sucking and the enemy death sound :D.

Would have loved to see different abilities instead of guns for the mana usage. Might give the player more of an incentive to use all of them because with the guns I found myself just using the revolver and not having a reason to switch.(Things like: shield, blink, reflect bullet? etc)

Other than that, great work!

It can get pretty frantic at times, there's good suspense with the slow down from the grappling hook. Very cool idea and it fits the theme well!

Really fun idea! The sound and graphics were great and the difficulty was pretty good as well! I found I would often be shooting my claw and it would go below my target. Overall really great! Well done.

Fun game! Nice art style and really cool starting screen too! I found a bug when I couldn't move from the start at all, but it went away after I restart the page. A vampire with a shotgun and canon, awesome idea :) Overall solid game, I had fun :)

I love the menu.

Fun little game, everything was quite polished, the visual and audio feedback was spot on. I liked blasting villagers in one line with the cannon. Main issue is that the hitbox felt a bit low. I also felt the music didn't really fit the gameplay, the calming music seemed out of place with all the shooting and action.

Really good entry! I really enjoyed what you did and were able to accomplish. I think if there was a way to see where you were aiming was my only thought.

Beutifully made twin-stick shooter! Firing speed is too slow for my taste, but movement is very well balanced. Great job on art and sound as well.
