You Will Fall by Yaen

You're a tightrope walker. You will fall. It is inevitable. The best you can do besides just giving up is to make it as far as possible. Good thing you have this voice inside your head to always remind you of these facts.

Controls
Mouse Left-Right: Balance on the rope W: Move faster (Makes it easier to fall)

Some features might not work in WebGL, also the downloaded version looks a bit nicer.

Anyway very well done. Keepr up the good work.
@schirdev thanks! I'm sorry for your mouse pad :D
@silkmeloni Ah, that happens a bunch at the start. We kind of expected many people not to make it very far but it's certainly possible to get the hang of it. Thanks for trying!
@digital-bacon Yeah, makes sense. It's a really hard game. Thank you for your kind words nontheless!
Nah, i don't think like that anymore :D
This game is hard and narration becomes annoying after 10+ attempts. Would be great if there were different voicelines after fails.
Great style nonetheless!
@kro yeah I agree. We kinda put all the voice work in within the last hour. It would have been nice to have more random lines especially early on. It kinda gets better once you get further every try (after learning for a bit) but yeah, having more variation would help keeping it motivating.
Awesome controls and nice visuals, wish I could come up with ideas this simple and effective.
Unfortunately the furthest I've managed to walk is 12m...
@sagiii Glad you made it to the pop up ^^. There are a lot of fun little ways of tricking the player like that in this game.
At first I could get no farther than 7 meters, but once I remembered I could walk slowly (very smart, me) It got way easier. As of 8:25 pm, my farthest is the 38 m mark. I am going to beat this game. I will update my progress as I go
8:30 pm, 58 meters....... you are a cruel, cruel person.....
Aka I give up here for now :)
Super good game, I love the visuals, the voice acting is STUPENDOUS, it only get bogged down by its length due to repetitiveness, but... that's kind of a feature of the genre.
FANTASTIC job, immediately going on my best-of-jam list
I liked it a lot, I didn't expect to go very far but I actually got to 28m. I also thought earing the same voice lines every time would be annoying, but after a moment you're just too focused to notice. I also made a prtty good run while thinking about something else and not paying attention XD I was probably subconsciously paying attention.
Fun little game, good job!

In all seriousness this is a really addictive game and I enjoyed it a lot, like others have said I played this game for a lot longer than I expected, and I will definitely be coming back to finish it. Furthest I got was 59m but I know I can reach the end with time. The visuals as well suited the game, it was clean and simple, but I also loved the wobbly fluid animation of the character with the solid stepping, it was a nice mix that represented what you do and don't control well. Whilst I get that it may be part of the challenge, I will admit the camera had moments where it just didn't feel fair. It would be trailing far behind and I'd feel robbed, more than feel like it was something that was my fault. Overall thought this was really solid, and mark my words I will finish it one day
I don't have that much to say that was not already said, too difficult but it was a brilliant idea to add a narrative part to this kind of "mario party" game. Some kind of evolution in the dialogues could be amazing and would push the player to start over again. But it can be difficult to do that in a single jam. Good work though.
Still trying, haven't given up yet
Managed to get 38m then kept getting pushed off! I enjoyed playing though!
Very difficult game, could do with a slightly gentler learning curve as a lot of people struggle to get past the first few metres. Pressing W just seemed to be a death sentence, so I stopped doing that pretty quickly.
The repetitive sound gets a bit annoying on repeated attempts, but I liked the cheeky things that happened as I crossed! It's very addictive too, a group of us spent quite a lot of time competing. Nice work!
Record thus far: 26m
My highest score so far is 58m
@tim-leach Thank you so much! I wish you the best of future attempts. The game has quite a few more tricks up its sleeve ;) If you make it further one day, let me know :D
@decrementedpalindrome That's a great score, further than most people get! Congrats! I'm happy the game worked so well for you
it reminds me of what i did with my team for LD49 - tight rope balancing also but with microphone controls :P hehe
it's quite fascinating because it's frustrating at first but actually lulls you into trying one more time :P
like I feel the mouse control is a bit awkward - maybe not that adapted - I ain't sure - something about it doesn't feel right - it's hard to pinpoint
now that being said the model & engine and camera management and everything is pretty incredible
like idk how you guys made it but for a game jam game it's mega clean
kudos to you guys, very impressive :D
had a good time testing it
thanks, well done, and keep it up y'all :D
