Evacuation by someone
Alien activity detected in the vicinity.
You are a specialist sent in to evaluate the situation and evacuate the residents.
You can build turrets or mines to try to delay the swarm until everyone can be rescued.
First person WASD controls, Press F to get people to follow you, or to board the helicopter.
Press T to place turrets, and E to lay mines. These cost points to build though.
You gain points by killing monsters and evacuating residents.
The game has multiple endings, and as usual is far too hard. My best score is 10.
It may not be clear, but you are supposed to enter the helicopter yourself when everyone is either evacuated or dead to get the endings.
Press Escape at any point to exit the game.
If the window size is not good for your computer, you can change it by editing game.ini in notepad. I didn't have time to add a fancy menu.
Look out for a post compo version in a few days.
I intend to actually add some textures, and improve the world map.
Windows build took longer than expected to get working. On the plus side, a lot of game engine bugs are now fixed.
I will attempt at a html5 build next.
This game is written using my personal c++ game engine.
Software used: Blender, Sfxr, Audacity, LMMS.
Everything was made by me during the 72 hour period, I would have entered the compo but I needed more time.

They should only not follow if they are too far away, running from aliens, or entering the helicopter.
In retrospect, perhaps the distance threshold may be a bit low.
So: The game looks really good, it was a lot of fun for me to goof around. I like FPS-s a lot. If I had more time I can see myself playing hours with it, trying to save all of them if possible. My record was 14 (with cheating, but how wouldn't cheat when others count on you?).
Good job!
I guess millions of turrets do that to you. My biggest problem was just that there were no civillians left after a few minutes. So i defended an empty landing zone from there on.
Great job!
I like the art style. The bright white, sort of glowing hills. Even though it's simple and your engine is limited, you managed to make some nice-looking graphics. It was interesting how you showed the pathfinding lines, but it makes sense in this game, especially since you have to patrol such a large area.
I didn't like the unskippable intro or it being the only place in the game to figure out how to evacuate people or the Esc to instaquit.
Good job!

Also those debug lines - I was sure I turned them off. Turns out a debug build also ended up in the zip file somehow. I should check my build scripts.
The somber atmosphere mixed with their cuteness makes this game so good.
It's like I'm in this horrifying war zone where all the combatants are barneys, and I'm just mowing them down.
Absolutely made my day.
