When The Night Comes by Frogravity

[raw]
made by Frogravity for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

Menu Background.png You play as a kid's ghost in an orphanage.

Monsters try to emerge from beneath the beds to hurt the sleeping orphanage children.

As a good ghost protect the children by scaring the monster away before they emerge.

Do it by pushing toys on the floor or knocking windows to lure the orphanage caretakers with flashlights to where the monsters try to emerge from.

Cool game that gets though pretty quickly But in the end I beat a couple of levels. Really like the art style and the grunts of the monsters once they are caught were funny to me not sure why but every time I chuckled. fun little game with a good implementation of the theme

It looks like our game, but you play for the other team :)
The gameplay is confusing at first, but if you figure it out, it becomes cool. The graphics aren't the best, but it's fine for a jam. The sound is good, the gameplay is nice, I was pleasantly surprised that it has 5 levels. In general, the game is nice.

A very nice game!
Had fun playing it, the music is amazing, graphics look good and I liked the little jump-scare when you lose.
The only thing bothered me was that after I beat the game, there was no win screen and the "next level" button showed up and threw me to the main menu, while also making my mouse disappear.
Great job overall!

A very nice execution! Interesting approach on the classic "there is a monster under my bed" story, and the game in general feels solid. Had a lot of fun playing it!

Fun game! I loved running around and knocking things over and causing a commotion for no reason haha. My nitpick with the gameplay is I often found myself just staring at the mini map waiting for a bed to change color. While this didn't make the game boring or anything, I just felt like playing this way almost defeated the purpose. Maybe there could be vision cones on the mini-map so that you have to actively patrol around and look for the monsters instead. Overall, I enjoyed your game very much, great job!

A very interesting take on the theme, truly! and the audio+ graphics makes for a killer mood! good job. However I felt a bit lost when i came to the gameplay. didnt really understand how to win the game and it wasnt all to fun. But still a nice idea with a cool ambiance :)

Very fun game, at the fist level is okey to look direcly into the monsters but when you get to the harder levels is a must to look the minimap to know where the monsters are. Great Job!

I forgot about the smacking windows thing for a while, but once I figured it out, the game was a lot of fun! The aesthetic of a spooky orphanage was a great idea, and you really pulled it off! The levels were well designed, and I loved the variety. I recorded myself playing the game if you want some extra feedback.

Really unique concept- certainly an interesting take on usual horror themes! Once you figure out the gameplay loop it's pretty fun, if a little easy. I ended up looking more at the minimap than the POV view, though I wouldn't say that's a bad thing outside of missing out on the graphics. Definitely a cool application of the theme, well done!

This was a fun concept! I was impressed by the coding of the caretaker, which kept track of multiple "requests" (like when I would click on multiple toys in order).

For the music, it sounded good, but I don't think it fit the style or the environment of the game. You're a ghost guarding sleeping kinds, not dancing at a club haha!

Good job to the whole team! This was a technical success!

Little bug when finishing the game/last level, when you press "Next Level", it loads the main menu without the cursor. Only when to quit is ALT+F4.

I found the game fun to play, walking around, checking beds. But I think the minimap is really too much. I only played with this feature and I only looked my FPS view to interact with objects.

The sound design is great, mainly the monsters SFX. Congrats!

Poor caretakers don't get any rest!

Nice and atmospheric, and quite intense at later levels when there are so many beds. The minimap was an absolute life saver
