Marins Dream Garden by boaheck-artgent
Welcome To The Dream Garden
Story
One night, after a long day planting fruit and vegetables βin their garden Marin fell asleep while thinking about how long they would have to wait to enjoy the fruits(and veg) of their labour. That night they had a very strange dream. They woke up on an island floating in the void. A beautiful soft voice spoke to Marin, saying "Hello Marin, my name is Astella, the spirit of every wish upon a star that has ever been made. I saw how hard you worked today in the garden and wanted to give you a dream where all your work pays off. Time here is sped up, a day will pass by every 10 seconds, plants only take a week to grow and you can eat all the fruit and veg you like! Stay a while, life's short but dreams are forever."
Gameplay
There is no goal in this game. Just do a little bit of platforming to find the 4 seed dispensing pipes and collect all 4 seed types(2 seed types look the same right now due to a mistake in the last hour or two of the jam), then you can garden to your heart's content. Each season the seeds will produce a different variety of fruit so if you want to try and get 1 of every fruit you should end up with a total of 16 unique items.
I had a lot more planned for this project so if you'd like to see that, let me know and if you're feeling generous and really want more please leave a tip on the itch page. If there's enough interest I'll happily add more to this because it's very fun to work on.
Controls:
Move: wasd or left stick Camera: mouse or right stick Pickup/drop: left mouse, left bumper or X Eat/Plant: right mouse, right bumper or Y Jump: space or A Run: Shift or A Zoom: mouse scroll or dpad up/down
Note: Button names are for Xbox controller Layout, I think it should work with other controllers though if you press the button in the same place as the listed Xbox button.
Made with Godot, font used is Alphakind, 3D made in Blender, Music and SFX made with FL Studio and Audacity, textures made with Krita
NOTE in the rush to get this uploaded two of the seeds ended up with the same graphics. I promise they both grow different plants. This will be fixed in a post jam build most likely.
The Dream Garden awaits, I hope you have a lovely time!

My laptop couldn't run the game very well, so the platforming was a bit difficult for me, but thankfully the checkpoints were very forgiving!
In the end I managed to get 12/16 fruits and vegs, so I think that's a success! (Finding new ones for every season was fun, but I kinda lost track which ones I already had, so maybe some checklist would be nice!)
Good job!
When I ate the fruit it just.. disappeared, so left me feeling like I went through the trouble of platforming without any satisfying reward. I wish the fruit eating gave a noise or a "yipee!" or *something* from our cute character.
That aside, I still had fun. :)
I think that hooking up the correct assets is totally allowed in a mid-jam patch (without needing to declare a post-jam version). Thanks for the neat game!
I really liked the game, because it was absolutely cute. I mean I smiled just by hearing the "yeepee" when the character jumped for the first time. I really liked that little smile she did when she jumped as well !
The music is smooth and relaxing which fit perfectly here !
I explored all of that little world and it was satisfying.
The only part I'm saddened about is the lack of utility of the fruits you can plant. It feels like the game doesn't suits the theme of the game jam at all, to be honest. Yes, stuff is happening every 10 seconds, but it change in now way the gameplay.
But I'd really like you to not focus on that and keep improving that game because I'd very much enjoy revisit it whenever you ad more content to it !
Keep up the good work
