Esgobert's Escapade by Martoow

[raw]
made by Martoow for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

The dwarf Esgobert has had his beard shaven by the resentful MORN WENWIK and has been sent out to the outer planes. His physical form is now in flux and every ten seconds he is sent to a different plane of existence! It seems as if the next plane he is sent to depends on the enemies he slays...

Looks interesting, but I've been getting an error when I try playing it: "Failed to read the 'serviceWorker' property from 'Navigator': Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the 'allow-same-origin' flag." The graphics drew me here though :)

I would post an itch.io link. I have seen this error a few times on html/web games on LudumDare.

Hey I'd like to check this out but it gave a "Failed to read the 'serviceWorker'" error. If you get it fixed drop a reply so I can try it! Good luck!

fun to run around avoid the bullet hell! I like the idea of being sent to different planes every 10 seconds, though I'm not sure what my goal is in the game. I might also recommend adding a cursor or sight line of some kind so I can more easily tell where I'm shooting (:

I had the same error trying to embed my Godot game, but you can work around it by editing the exported JavaScript. Details here: https://twitter.com/johnpennycook/status/1576756004061995009

Ping me if you fix the embed or upload it to itch.io, and I'll come back and play/rate.

I really enjoyed the look of all your enemy sprites! Especially the tall ones. Pretty fun how the world shifts every 10 seconds. Made me want to see all the possible world-looks!

This has some good stuff going for it. Visually, it looked very nice. The environment change was also really pleasing to look at. Unfortunately I think the gameplay left a bit to be desired. The whole concept of running around fighting enemies and changing your environment is super awesome, but there was no goal except to survive as long as possible, which usually just meant running around for a while while shooting back at enemies. Also, some audio would have been nice but of course it's a game jam game so that can be excused. Overall very nice job. I very much enjoyed the graphics and I think you have a really cool concept going for you!

@ben-throop, @ninnec, @chrisdedev, @bxyzzz, we seem to have been able to fix the problem with chromium browsers not being able to run the game. There might be some nebulous issues with the controls in Chrome though, according to @FiBe.

Thank you for all the feedback, we are extremely happy that you have taken your time to try and play our game. :)

Good idea with the player being sent to different planes every 10 seconds - creative use of the theme.

Cool visuals and concept. I agree with other commenters that the gameplay could be fleshed out with a little more variety. Also audio would have definitely helped the game but I understand there might not have been time with the Jam limits. Great submission overall!

I love the art ! It make me think of ROTMG :).
The game is great but I did not figured out what really happen each 10 seconds, more ennemies maybe ?

I thought the wee man's run is cute and funny/ Loved the bullet hell, but I wanted to find an exit and couldn't. I wanted a goal. Maybe there was one and I didn't have the skills! But fun game! I wanted SFX too.

Nice little game this, I really like the fireball effects. Perhaps different enemies should use a colour-shifted version of those? Or perhaps different planes should have different fireballs? Would love to see more from this!

The graphics look good, but a lot of the enemies and environments felt very same-y

The art is nice and the game is pretty fun. Could use more content or some kind of meta, but is nonetheless satisfying and addicting. i was also reminded of rotmg :)

I made a youtube shorts series where I give feedback to games I rated during Ludum Dare. This happened to be one of them and in case you wanted to see the feedback here is a link: https://youtube.com/shorts/PbgW72sfsI8?feature=share
