Alien Abductor by ch33sybacon

You control an alien spaceship that has been sent to abduct the entire Earth. In lightspeed transit across the Orion arm of the Milky Way galaxy some quantum interference has caused your tractor beam to malfunction. It only operators every 10 seconds for 10 seconds and disables all of the other ships systems during that time. Collects the earth's wildlife and human population to study and bring upgrades to your ship, until your ship is large enough to abduct the entire earth. WARNING: Because the tractor beam is on continuously for 10 seconds it picks up lots of debris. If your ship weighs to much it will crash onto the planet.

Controls:

Move ship - mouse

Upgrade menu - f

Pause menu - Esc

Thanks for playing & rating the game! This was my first game jam game and I look forward to doing more.

The web version is available itch.io/alienabductor but is a bit broken, partly due to ongoing issues with Godot 4 beta, for example the lack of grass.

Fun factor is not high at this game, but maybe next time you will think more about that and it will be better. Averagly fit into the theme.. Not bad, not bad :) I like your art.

One last note: I always write down honest review, because everybody need that, not just nice craps with some bullshit, but sometime I will appreciate very good games. So if this review insult you, but use it well :) Anyway every game is counting so :)

Very nice for a first game jam entry! I liked the art style and the music :-D The gameplay was a bit too simple, but still great for your first entry! I can imgaine this concept being extended to have more upgrades and all kind of entities to pick up :D Good job!

Well, you kept the theme well in your mind. It's nice but I agree the other comments. You will make better next time.

Thanks @Hadik, @borgi, @Budark, indeed I was going for a simple gameplay loop, there is definitely more to expand in terms of upgrades and things to pick up. I also nerfed the debris pick up rate which fills up the ship capacity heavily because it was difficult to balance without making you spend all your time dumping debris or just dying due to reaching capacity.

Excellent work for your first game jam submission! I like the gameplay of abducting cows, rubbish, and humans; it's always enjoyable to abduct cows:-D It would be more convenient to steer the spacecraft if the cursor was at the abducting spot rather than the spaceship, my suggestion:D Outstanding work! It's fantastic!! Thank you for a fantastic experience! :D![invader-zim-cow.gif](///raw/395/2/z/5229c.gif)

I second @r3d3r's suggestion of the cursor at the abduction spot, but maybe this would play better if we controlled the ship with buttons instead of the mouse (because the ship speed is limited).

I'm not sure if it was intentional, but even though the "clean debris" option "costs 5 rocks" you can do it with less rocks. I understand if it is intentional, it is just a little inconsistent with the other options where you must pay the full cost.

Either way, good job on the game!

Thanks @tex-killer and @r3d3r, and ah yea I see this would probably make more sense perspective wise to control what spot on the ground you want to hover over.

The "Clean Debris" option is intended to remove less rocks, I was trying to keep the costs labels as short as possible, maybe <5 or just the text "up to 5" would make something like this more clear in the future

Thanks for your feedback!

The noise the fbi agents made when you abducted them was great!

Nice job! Sound effects were nice, though mechanically it could use some work. An indicator for next available upgrade cycle would be nice.

It was so nice! Great job for your first game jam, if I have any feedback it would only be that we could use a timer of some sort to see when our beam is gonna be off, but I had fun, thank you for your game! :)

Hey there. Nice little game, I had fun building my ship up. I'd have loved indicators on the buttons if the upgrade is currently possible and a (visible) option to close the upgrade menu (it seemed to get hidden sometimes after an upgrade, but not always).
But the music was cool (reminded me of human music ? :D) and the little sound effects made collecting cows and people fun.
