Experience the nostalgic bliss of an arcade coin tower game with a twist (and a hoot ^-^). Set in a dark forest filled with anti-clock foxes, you will play as Owlfred Hitchcog, an outcast in the owl community hoo serves as the watchful protector of all things related to cogs and clocks! Will you survive before the foxes get their revenge on the only teller of time in the forest? Hoo knows!

Clockwork Owl is a battle-sim rogue-lite that utilizes coin-pushing mechanics as a means to defend your tower against increasingly challenging waves of enemies encroaching every ten seconds. Push cogs off the edge to drop them on your enemies heads! Unlock new cogs that have unique abilities, and upgrade them to increase their damage and reduce their cooldown.!

This was really creative and fun! I love the idea of stacking up those arcade coins and pushing them off to deal damage! I was enjoying it most of the way until I finally killed the two foxes, and I was clicking my mouse and clicked continue without selecting an upgrade. But other than that it was a fantastic game!

I don't quite see where the ten seconds comes into play (maybe I missed it?), but I did enjoy the short nostalgia trip!

Awesome idea, really genius synthesis of game mechanics. Made for a very fun puzzle roguelike. The music was distractingly epic for a game about cuckoo clock owls pushing cogs around though haha

Ended up getting high enough level? cog upgrade? that I could just hit continue and it would up the level counter (and keep me on the shop screen, so I could do this infinitely, and no levels would spawn!) So I ended up getting to around level 500 before I got tired of clicking haha. Very fun game! Cog upgrades busted. Would be nice with more enemy/item varieties. Theme 10/10.

Nice relaxing game. A little easy just upgrading cogs. The ninja stars were not worth the 200g. Wish the prices of the other stuff were easier to get to since cogs seemed to be so op I could never save enough money.

Made it to level 26 then quit because it was too repetitive and I was playing for a while.

Enjoyed this game quite a bit! Made it to level 30. I was unable to unlock Big Cog or Bomb, although I had enough coins. Also the music turns back no every level if you turned it off.

Other than those minor quibbles - great game. Addicting core mechanic, great sound design, and owls are amazing.

I think i played more then i should hahaha
I liked a lot the game, the mix between the coin game and a Roguelike, it's pretty awesome.
I only have some minor things that i would change or fix. Like, for example, the coins that you gain for each cog that drops, it's ok at first that you gain only one, but i saw when i upgrade the cog, and bought the Ninja Star that it's still only 1 coin for each, so i would put in some future versions some way that you could Gain more coins for each cog.
And there is a little bug, if you mute the music, and clear one night, the music starts again, and you have to mute again.
But overall, i liked A LOT, really, and this screen shot is a proof haha.

The style of this is superb and I love love love the music and sounds when the coins drop. It is very addictive but somewhat slow to get started (not unlike...well, a coin pusher at the arcade). It is so freakin pretty too- nice game!

Unless I'm missing something the game progresses very slowly, I think I spent about 10 minutes on it and only made it to the second level. You also seem to not have very much control over what you're actually doing, given the fixed cog recharge speed.

Hey @jackofcups @t-c @branquelo @jag and Everyone else, I released an update to fix a bunch of the bugs y’all mentioned above including now BOMBS, BIG COG, RESET Cog. Fixed the shop so you don’t accidentally close it. Did some rebalancing for ninja star. Etc

Gorgeous game!
Love the arcade vibe!

Just had a few performance hits when the cogs are spawning, and the close shop button didn't work.

But really well done!

I like the art and idea of the game, but it feels like I have actually very little control or feedback over how good I'm throwing my pieces. After you made that initial stack of cogs tumble it takes forever to have anything else fall.

Still I played it for longer than most other jam games, it is kinda addicting since every through could be the one to send them all down, which is really satisfying.

Hoot hoot, what a fun game you have here, ahha :eyes: The mechanics were really unique but it took me a second to get what's going on xD The mood, grahpics and audio go together well. Cool entry!

This game is an interesting concept that incorporates the "coin nudger" mechanic; however, if real money were involved, I would be penniless! xD I really like the 3D artistic style for the environments! :D I do have a suggestion, I am not sure if it is broken on my end, but it's strange that you have to press twice after picking the icon to use the specific coin. Nonetheless, this game is fantastic! It's awesome! Thank you for a fantastic experience! :D

I'm tempted to give you full marks on everything for the puns alone!! I liked the concept and it was really satisfying watching a whole heap of cogs drop and clearing half a fox's health in one go. Very charming art and nice, calming vibes, although it felt a bit too slow to progress.

I love the idea behind it, and would love to see more! Clicking to add cogs or anything else to the machine is really holding it back from shining as much as it could in my opinion. If things just fired on cooldown into the machine wherever you were aiming, this would be a few updates away from being a perfect idle game! I would also recommend updating the mute button to adjust audioSource.Volume or .Pause instead of just using audioSource.Stop to avoid the song restarting every time you want the song back on. Some tweaking on the balance for how many enemies spawn, the speed of the machine/world, and how much health enemies have would go far as well, but hard to perfect in 72 hours.
Very impressive for the constraints of the jam and a very creative game!

I like the idea of the coin nudger thing, but like real life, it's a bit slow! Maybe a little kick in progression, a couple things at once instead of just one or something. I found the art a little uncohesive, the 3D stuff was super super cute but I'm not sure if the UI really fit it.

I really enjoyed the graphics and the intense music in the background. and it was a very original take on the theme. but it was a bit slow and took me a bit to actually understand how everything worked.

I have to start off by giving props, the models for the game are gorgeous and wonderful to look at. The owl design was just the right amount of creepy, I really like it and how it blended with the style for the cogs and the general vibe of the environment.

The music was good if not a bit too loud haha, I'll admit I turned it off halfway through playing as it was very loud and there was no way to turn it down :(

My only real complaint would be to perhaps make launching of the objects automatic? I'll admit by the 3rd level my finger started hurting from continuously clicking.

All in all though, great job! :)

Maybe it miss a button to switch between item you throw and some balance with the money (more item do damage more money you earn) it will help to get more powerfull item faster (and up enemy number to augment difficulty over time). Keep coding !

I must admit I liked the game, kept me non-stop for an hour o_o I survived 2 nights first to understand how to play, then a tenth more before stopping myself. The soundtrack made me somewhat both anxious and motivated, I liked it. The graphics is not very clear, it could benefit of some more contrast in my opinion. Simple and nostalgic gameplay, engaging but slow... I stopped playing primarly because it was taking too long to try all the upgrades!
Overall, great job :D

Great coin game. I really like the mixture of 2d an 3d art. The music is fantastic. It really gets you in a grove. The gears were a little floaty sometimes. I think it might help to turn up the mass. I died before I could purchase anything. You should make it that you can buy at least one or two things the first time the store comes up. Solid work. Good job!

Congratulations for the game, the team made a difficult bet to make, which is to combine 2 art techniques that are very difficult to combine lowpoly and pixel art and managed to execute the junction with mastery my congratulations!, I liked the arts the game was very charismatic it can improve in the future, but it is already heading in the right direction, great game congratulations again to all, a big hug.

This game definitely needs a button to switch between different cogs, and something to make the gameplay more engaging. The art is fantastic, I love the fact that items have colliders actually matching their models, the sound effects are satisfying and the music is nice, but the gameplay itself comes down to spamming whatever is off cooldown without any regard for where it lands, as doing so is enough to beat every level.
Also, not sure if this observation is correct, but it seemed to me you earn the same amount of money no matter what gear falls down, which is a strange choice as it makes it so getting stronger gears results in reducing the amount of money earned. Combining that with the fact that the upgrades get progressively more expensive, the end result is that it takes multiple levels (which all feel the same) to get anything beyond the two cheapest items in shop.

Amazing concept, but boring gameplay. My finger is tired after 5 minutes of spam-clicking.
Respect for collision model.

I LOVE coin-pushing games, so no matter what I had a great time playing this :) Love the addition of upgrades/shop, thought it was a bit confusing to me if I had to click to switch what I was dropping, or if there was a faster way to do it? Nice entry :)
