Gravity Run by Jonas Michael

[raw]
made by Jonas Michael for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

A classic jump and run game, where you cannot stop. Ever.

As you are traversing the obstacle course, every ten seconds your environment changes, adding interesting challenges. Don't touch the spiky parts and don't get stuck on walls - and most importantly: try to reach a new high score!

Controls are very minimalistic: use SPACE to jump, or SPACE in the air again to activate your jetpack. Move your mouse to point your flashlight.

Very nice game and very difficult too, congrats!

Cool idea! Works well and is interesting
I would only improve 2 things:
- battery light should better illuminate the surfaces
- when you lose, don't make the Space button restart the game! I had some great high-scores that I didn't submit because I accidentally pressed Space a few more times

Greqt gameplay. The leader board is really incentive (how do you make it?). An annoying things is the game over. If you were jumping, you restart the game too early and cannot publish your highscore

@aleksandar thank you for your feedback! Restarting the game with SPACE is a bug - it should be fixed now!
Thank you for playing!

This was a super simple take on the theme, but it works really well. I think with a bunch of polish this could actually be a really awesome game! I would have loved to see different types of environment changes that force me to change up my playstyle, but I think two is a good starting point. Wasn't expecting too much based on the visuals, but I guess you can't judge a book by its cover.

I liked your take on the theme - simple but effective.

I enjoyed playing this, simple to learn but hard to master! Good job!
(current) 2nd place on leaderboard with 3838
Only real criticism is the spikes - hitbox is bigger than I would expect.

It's nice game if we look from mechanics side but graphics are too simple

Nice feel to the game and space for interesting game mechanic changes. Good work

(I hit a bug where just after the 10 second change the game would finish so I couldn't progress too far in the end.)

Great game with changing difficulty forcing you to adapt your playstyle.
Feels nice to play and offers a lot of potential for further development.

Nice implementation of the theme! The game is quite difficult, but it works well in an endless runner. The way the light illuminates the ground may be a bit too punishing at times since it can be hard to see where the spikes are, but otherwise really cool!

Love how the effects compound on each other, travelling on the ceiling and in the dark.

I really enjoyed playing your game !
What I liked :
- The character animation
- The Light event (this mechanic is very cool).
- The game is also challenging thats good !

Improvements:
- The jetpack controls are a bit weird, I think it would be better if we had to press once in order to activate it.

Good Job !

This game is awesome! Had so much fun. The concept is simple, but very well executed. The level layout changes each run which keeps it interesting. Switching gravity around works really well. And you even added a highscore! Took me a few runs to break it, but I loved every second of it:

Very cool game! I love procedurally generated titles. I was quite awful at it though, I didn't have the coordination to actually find the spikes with my flashlight. Had a lot of fun though!

Bonus points for the online leaderboard too!

Nice idea. Game feels a bit rough. Controls and collisions feel a bit wonky, and maybe the size of the character compared to the environment makes it quite hard to navigate. It wasn't immediately obvious I had a jetpack and not just a jump so I failed a few times because of that. The endless runner concept with changing mods seems quite cool. Maybe I would have liked to know in advance what mode I'm switching to (esp. for the upside-down one, to be prepared and not die instantly). I think this game just needs a bit more polish to become very fun!

Great difficulty! Works good for this kind of game.
When the lights are off, it was a bit too hard imo. (but could be my lack of skills)
Other than that i think with some smoother jumping, it could be a lots of fun!

Good game, it's not as easy as we thought! With better graphics it would be better, but it still great, good job.

The new effects every 10 seconds were fun to try and deal with. Thanks for the game

I really like the fluid motion of the stickman, something I've struggled with making look correct in the past. Game was really good, I wasn't expecting the gravity flip. One possible but, I get a memory out of bounds exception when trying to record a high score. Using Chrome. Otherwise worked well and enjoyed it!

It's a fun game! I believe the gameplay is solid and the graphics are functional. The sound is interesting too, especially the sound effect that indicates a countdown. I couldn't send my score to the highscore (some errors popped up). Overall it's a good job.
