You are in a graveyard during a dark and spooky night.

Try to kill the most zombies using weapons you will find in the level.

Every 10 seconds, zombies have a chance to rise from the tombs, but weapons have a chance to spawn too, good luck !

Very cool game. I wish I could type faster
It feels very polished.
I like the minimalist art style.

I don't know if it was intentional but there are two zip files. A 1.0 and a 1.1, I guessed 1.1 is newer.

Thank you a lot @douwe-ravers I wanted to do something simpler than what I normaly do but work on my polish more. I also wanted to try the 1-Bit art style since I've never done it before and boys 16x16 1-Bit is hard ^^
I let the 1.0 version to let people try the version they want and see the changes if they wanted to. I'mma try your game, it caught my attention ;)

The 1 bit art is totally spot on, loving the idea but I was really bad at it :p Sound ambience was really a plus for me, I felt into it so much, good job !

Oh man this was actually so good once I figured out the controls. I was getting chased by like 100 zombies at the end, but it was a good take on the typing mechanic and having to move around to avoid the zombies. I liked it.

Great game! Really puts you in the mood, and the typing-warrior mechanic feels unique and refreshing. The controls feel bad and very unintuitive. I tried using WASD and Shift, but that didn't work. Could only get Shift + QZSD to work, and that puts my left hand in a really awkward position, and makes it difficult to control.

I'm sorry @gamejmunk that it didn't work for you, I tried with QWERTY setup and it worked (I'm french so I have an azerty keyboard). I'll try to see what could have happen.

@osh-studio it feels great ;) Using the shotgun on a horde of zombies is satisfying ;)
I know the controls are strange but once you get use to it, you don't even think about it anymore. Happy you liked it <3

@blk-dg thank you, I tried to polish a bit more than I used to, glad it showed. First time doing some 1-Bit art style and I liked it, it's quite a challenge actually.

Intresting game mechanic! a little complex to pick up at first glance, but then its a breeze!

@andreadbx thanks, I know it's that way, some told me to put "Enter" to change between movement and writing but it's faster this way.

Congrats on getting your entry in! Took me a moment to get adjusted and understand I needed to hold shift to move. After getting past that, I think my only real problems were getting a good angle on the zombies and sometimes, telling what word I was on. For example, if I had multiple zombies in my radius, and started typing on the one closest to me, it would sometimes choose a different one in a group, and I couldn't read what it said.

Overall it plays real nice, and the church bell for the 10 second mark is great. Only thing I would want to add is maybe the occasional weapon that just has a ton of ammo so I could really knock a whole lot of zombies out before moving again.

Nice work!

@davidbradbury Thank you for your comment, the sniper and the shotgun are there to damaga many zombies but I understand what you are saying. I added the a way to reset the target zombie by pressing space because of the issue you mentioned. Hope you had a good time :)

Nice atmosphere, I like the art style. I really like typing games so it's cool to see this. It felt like there were a bit too many zombies for too little weapons, felt like most of the time I was running around looking for more weapons and not typing. But it was really satisfying to afterwards shoot the huge cluster that gathered behind me with the weapons that did splash damage! :)

612!

Reading the instructions I was confused by why I had to hold shift and how things worked but then things became very obvious.

I REALLY enjoyed this concept.

My frustration came in trying to find guns/ammo on top of the typing and whatnot. I'm fairly quick at the typing so I was EXCITED for this. I did feel a little bit let down though when it ended up feeling a bit more like a herd-the-zombies and run out of bullets within 3 seconds. Just a few too many things in the air to get a real good balance on within the short confines of a game jam.

That being said, you had me completely enchanted and my partner even stopped to watch.

It's hard to believe something this awesome could be done in the length of a jam but you did it! Amazing art style, the sound was beautiful, and the game mechanism wasn't overly simplistic.
Given more time, with some balancing, this could become a terrifyingly addictive game.

@tygrak thank you, the fact that there is more zombies than weapon is to make you stress, and for you to enjoy even more shotguning un bunch of them ^^ Hope you enjoyed !

@otterfaelure Nice score, I stopped at around 600 too. Glad you enjoyed it, I got inspired by The Textorcist, if you really like my game you should definitly take a look a this one. I know weapon/ammo is a bit frustrating but it's a game jam and I didn't want for player to play eternaly (even though you almost can atm). Thank you for your great feedback <3.

This was an awesome entry! The different guns had some interesting mechanics that I haven't seen in a typing type of game. I think the one issue I had was when there was a lot of zombies stacked up it was hard to see what word I was typing and I couldn't keep typing any other words nearby when I had the sniper rifle. I could see this getting a lot more tactical if it was a little slower paced and you planned out combos with different weapons and alignment of zombies. I think that would play well with the limited ammo and trying to make the most of your supplies. Great entry though, I had fun!

@ursagames Thanks a lot for your comment, I tried something different with a scope I could do by myself, and working on some polish (which I usually don't ...). I have ideas to improve the game and it's visibility but it's a jam entry and I don't think I'll continu. Had fun making it though in live on twitch. Glad you like my entry, it means a lot <3

Not sure if others have mentioned it, but I ran into a bug where it became impossible to type/shoot (it just kept clicking, regardless of ammo).

Overall I had a lot of fun with this! I love the way the different weapons change how you play & strategise, and getting multiple kills at once is really satisfying!
